"CHANGING MY WARDROBE touched my heart and left an imprint on my very soul."
 -Gothic Angel

From the Back Cover

Can a high school freshman improve her social standing by simply changing her wardrobe?

Changing My Wardrobe is a tragic high school drama about starting over, fitting in, and discovering the truth about what really matters. It's a story about friendship, first love, and soul-crushing loss. It's a story about a person's choices, good and bad, and the unexpected and far-reaching consequences of those choices.

I knew before reading this book that it would be something that I wanted to share with my younger sisters. Even though I had a few issues with this book, for the most part, the main story line was great and something that needs to be covered more in YA books.

First I will start off with what I didn't like about this book, the main character and the dialogue between the characters. As much as I had in common with the main character Lindsey, I found her extremely hard to connect with. I was part of National Honor Society, I am the older sister, I have had crushes, and I have had moments where I just wanted, needed a change. It would make an incredible amount of sense if I could connect and feel something towards this character, however, there was something about her that didn't sit well with me. She is meant to come off as a smart girl with a good head on her shoulders, which she totally is but her personality felt completely flat. Her thoughts, feelings, and even the conversations she had with other characters was just lacking something. She obviously loved her friend, Teeny dearly (and I did too but I will get to that in a moment) but the thoughts she had about other characters seemed harsh and rather snotty. When she thought about her oddball friend, Jocelyn, I couldn't believe how resentful she was! So without the connection of the main character, it was hard to truly LOVE this story. Also, the dialogue between the characters was a bit awkward. Most of it flowed nicely but some of what they said to each other kind of made me scratch my head in confusion. The dialogue wasn't terrible, I have definitely read much worse, but it just didn't seem all that genuine. Even those I had these few issues with the book, there were a few positives that I really liked!

I am not a spoiler, but: WARNING! When they say soul-crunching loss, they really mean WORST ENDING EVER! I was actually enjoying this book, and then the ending came. It was not a pleasant ending at all.

This book is extrordinary. It made me cry, as all good books should. However, it's not a good book for immature audiences, as they will not appreciate how well the book is written. Also there are some older consepts.

Over all, DEFFINITELY read this book (It's probably one of my all time favorites). Beautifully sad and happy. Love it.

The title itself makes you think that it's about some girl deciding to become popular, bla bla bla. However it is not, and is an amazing book.

I must start off by saying that this book is haunting. It left me thinking about it still, for hours and days after reading it. I am going to try to do my best here without spoiling anything for anyone.

Lindsey has always been a nerd and when she is about to start her first day of high school, she is looking for a change. She seeks the advice of her BFF, Teeny to help. Teeny is more than willing to help Lindsey finally break free of Avery and her minions. Avery has made Lindsey's junior high years difficult. She is always teasing her and making her feel stupid and low.

Throughout the book you get a look at what a typical few months in high school can be like for a teenager. The worries of homework, grades, friends and often...bullying. The group of friends try very hard to come up with different ways to keep Avery and her friends at bay. It's not until they think that they have everything figured out that things seem to really heat up!

The ending will SHOCK YOU!!! That is what haunts me the most...it takes a terrible thing for Lindsey to finally figure out that what she really wanted in the end was to be with her loved ones. And after everything she goes through and what she fights for, she loses.

That is about all that I can say without revealing too much. You will just have to read the book for yourself. I highly recommend it for a young teen and I think that I might just pass it on to my 13-year-old tonight to read. Although this book is a work of fiction, tragedies happen like this everyday.
