5.0 out of 5 stars Thr Album of the year!
I just love this woman. Everything she's done is superb, and this album dosen't disapoint. I love every song! I put the album on repeat and lay on my bed with the lyrics and listened until I knew the words. Ane Brun deserves to be so much more well know, but secretly i love thinking she's all mine.

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh, no...
I don't get all this euphoria here. This is by far Ane Brun's weakest album. Only one single song that shows what she is capable of ("Lullaby for Grown-Ups"). The rest is.. well... hard to bear. Why all this artificial forced voice tremolo? It sounds like we did as kids: Holding our hands against our ears and removing them as fast as we could. On this record, it just...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, beautiful album, January 3, 2009

First heard Ane Brun when her cover of True Colours was used in a TV advertisement. Took ages to find out about her.

This is a great album - every song is beautiful. Hope she has a lot more success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy listening, December 20, 2008

It is a shame that in the modern world there is so much good music that passes you by - had it not been for a cinema advertisement I would never have come across Ane. Whilst life may be complete by ignorance of the existence of such a good artist, it is more pleasant being able to listen to Ane sing. She reminds me of lesser known artists that for some reason the world ignores, maybe that is what makes her so good - that the mashed out relentless 'pop' machine fails to notice real talent. It happened to other greats like Jo Ann Kelly.

Perhaps above all, it makes those who do listen and like selective and free thinking, able to make their own minds up.

The greater pity is the exploitation of the record companies who slightly alter the composition of CD's for different markets. I particularly wanted the track 'True Colours' and had to search for a USA source to find it. Doing so is reward itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect soundtrack to a rainy fall afternoon, November 3, 2009

Upon hearing Ane Brun's, "The Treehouse Song" for the first time, I was stricken by the originality and surprised that something so different could be so catchy. I found it replaying in my head again and again. It captured me like nothing I'd heard in recent years.

Ane Brun's lilting, child like voice floats over subdued, bittersweet melodies with soft harmonies fading into the background. Her clever yet sometimes mysterious lyrics draw you in. Her style is definitely unique. A friend said it reminded her of a yodeler. That's not the most flattering comparison, but I can understand how her sometimes warbling voice could recall that style.

The album flows from one song to the next creating a seamless, sad lullaby. The beautifully played violin and guitar emphasize the swelling sadness in the songs, but it's Ane's voice that is without a doubt the centerpiece of the songs.

Why all this artificial forced voice tremolo? It sounds like we did as kids: Holding our hands against our ears and removing them as fast as we could. On this record, it just sounds stupid, amateurish. Sorry to say: It sounds just like A.B. looks like on the cover --- as if she'd been poured over with a bucket of cold water, not knowing what to do, not knowing how to look (or better: sound) like.

Groove with the Lullaby, dream away and forget about the rest.
