Dr. Bob Birchwood , a professor of microbiology and his wife, Myrna , a free-lancing child psychologist living in the Pinelands agree to foster-parent a four and a half year old black youngster now being cared for by the county juvenile authorities. Victor, the boy, was abandoned by his mother, a street-walker and drug addict the day he was born in a Camden hospital because he has a severe case of vitiligo. His body is covered with white unpigmented circles about an inch wide from his head down to his feet.
