This is my first RC helicopter. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. I saw this helicopter demoed and it flew really well. I really like the size of the helicopter since it is fairly long. I am doing short hovers inside my house. It is really fun once you can hover and do some basic maneuvers. I need to try it outside where I have more room to fly. Charge time is 100 minutes. Fly time is 5 to 8 minutes. If fly time could increase, that would be great. None the less, this is addicting and challenging. Overall, the helicopter is well built.

Hi
I have a Syma S007 helicopter and I liked it so much that I bought one of these. I wanted something that I could fly outdoors and the S007 with the infrared controller just won't work in the sun. I was quite disappointed at first. This thing doesn't have anything like the controllability of the S007 and it will not penetrate into even the slightest breeze. I mean even a breeze you can't feel. I started adding weight to the front and that helped a lot, but by the time I got up to 2 .45 caliber balls from my muzzle loader the weight was taking it's toll on performance. I got around this by putting one .45 cal. lead ball on the end of a stalk that sticks out from the front of the helicopter about 3 inches. What a difference I can fly it all over the yard now, it will both penetrate into a very light breeze it is much more controllable when turning. If you try this make the stalk out of something flexible that won't break when you hit the ground. I used a piece of that black plastic shrink tube that you use for electrical connections, I fit the ball in the end and shrunk the tube around it, then taped it to the bottom of the body. I'm still experimenting with the weight and length of the tube, but I was able to get in 3 flights today that didn't hit anything. My back yard has a lot of large Oak trees in it and I have to stay below the branches over head. I'm looking at getting a Syma S006G witch ads a gyro, larger tail rotor, and a turbo button that will make the tail rotor run faster for outdoor flight. I would recommend that if you are thinking of buying a S006 that you look at the S006G instead. Mike

This review is from: 3 Channel Alloy Shark RC Remote Control Metal Frame Helicopter (Toy)
Most people looking at the this RC helicopter are new to the hobby, possibly seeing this as a step up from the entertaining air hogs. This can be a mistake. The Alloy Shark cannot hold it's course against even a mild breeze outdoors. Indoors, the spinning blades, much larger and heavier than those of the small micros, can damage and injure.
The Shark adjusts the torque from the two counter rotating blades to control direction. This is not precise, and so control is can be haphazard. If you want to move up, it's a better idea to get a cheap 3 or 4 channel helicopter. There are plenty of reviews and lots of good advice on the hobby sites.
