Customer Reviews

This works, but I am a little concerned with the straps staying clamped.
Matthew
I tried several different configurations and was not able to get them tight at all.
Preston Pulley
Installed an antenna on my chimney, very sturdy, works great, easy to install.

This product works great, after you figure out how to set it up. Another review mentioned this but I just ignored it. Turns out, I was on my roof for 30 minutes before I full understood what I was doing. The difficulty lies in attaching the straps to the mount. Start by sliding the strap through one of the buckles then slide the strap further through the mounting hook and then loop it back through the buckle, leaving slack is not needed on this first side. Clamp the buckle with pliers then route the strap around the chimney. It may take a second person to hold the mounting up at this point. I did it myself and the mount kept falling off. I bent the strapping a little to mark where the chimney corners were to help, as I was alone in this venture. Once around the chimney, insert the other side into the buckle, loop it, and tighten as earlier. It's good to get it as tight as possible. I found that leaving the hooks as loose as possible and tightening their nuts after clamping the second buckle helped the most to tighten the straps overall; I was alone on this project after all. After all is said and done, you can cut off excess strapping. I hope this helps someone.

Purchased to install 80" antenna on my brick chimney. To start, it was packaged poorly. Upon opening, I noticed screws and bolts outside the plastic package and loose inside the shipping box. The box was filled with packaging peanuts, so after removing all the packaging material, I was left wondering if I had accidently discarded small parts or other hardware. After confirming all hardware was present, I began the install. The first issue I noticed was the directions. They print is small, non-descriptive, and in general the instructions are of no help. The directions really aren't needed with such a simple fixture, but it helps for first-timers and would be nice. Next, the pictures in the directions do not match the hardware. The angle of the corner brackets do not match the picture in the instructions no matter what configuration is used. It appears the pictures were printed in a mirror image. Again, minor but worth noting. Next is where the real issues began. The bands are about 3/4 inches wide and too thin. I would have done better to purchase indoor plumbing band instead of using the straps included, and seriously considered doing so before starting the project. I stuck with the included bands and noticed when bending the first one around the corner of brink, the band was weakening. I expect thin metal to wear or break after repeated bending, vibration, or movement, but not after a single bend around a corner. The surface finish of the brick is actually visible through the metal. As an example, think about what it looks like when you rub a piece of paper with a pencil while a coin is underneath. It looked as if the bands could sheer. Although tensile strength appears to be good enough, it is not comforting to know this could be all that's holding my antenna all year round.Read more ›

My only gripe is that there was no instruction, picture or written, which explains the method for using the banding clips.
Other than that, the product works great.

All the parts were included.I did it by myself but I suggest having 2 people because its a little hard to keep band tight before installing keeper clamps.I used a small pair of vise grips to crimp the band keepers tight.I thought the product was reasonably priced.I would recommend this product.I would suggest using a lubricant on threads of u bolts if disassembly was needed in the future because rust may become a issue on the threads. I received my order in 2-3 days and I was surprised it came that fast....

As most of reviewer mentioned it already, the description is not great. So I searched for a video on YouTube. And I found the video "Channel Master Introduction to Chimney Mounts". I wish, they would include some of that information in the product description. Here they say it is not recommended for for stucco or vinyl chimneys. Why? Because the vinyl will break once you tighten the metal straps. Before you buy this set, measure your chimney. Our chimney was too large for the 12 foot straps. They also have a Channel Master CM 9067 for larger chimneys with 18 foot straps. But you can find larger metal straps in the plumbing department of your hardware store.

The chimney mount has held through a 40 MPH wind. But a caution - the clamps for the straps needed to be closed with pliers and then pounded with a hammer against a metal plate placed against the chimney before they held.

It is challenging to do by yourself when the chimney is at the end of the roof line but I was able to get it attached in about an hour
