This review is from: The Channel Tunnel (Great Building Feats) (Hardcover)
This little volume (hardback edition) introduces the reader to the size and complexity of the English Channel tunnel, or "Chunnel" project and gives a brief history of the idea for it. It took a good many years to get the thing under way, since the British historically did not want mainland Europe to have easier access to England than was afforded by the notably uncomfortable boat passage across the choppy waters of the English Channel.
I found a couple of questionable numbers on pages 28 and 29 that cast a little suspicion on the technical veracity of the book. But I guess I should accept that the author is an all-purpose writer who probably finds herself straying into subject areas that she doesn't fully understand. Perhaps the publisher should employ some competent pre-publication reviewers.

Needed this for a school project. It provided lots of detailed information. Good book. Recommend for anyone interested in learning about the Chunnel.
