Great Tool If Only It Worked!,
This review is from: ChannelLock Dual Driver Xl 4-Volt Lithium Ion Compact Cordless Drill/Driver (Misc.)
Like several others who reviewed this product, I was delighted with the features, looks, swivel handle, and specialty heads...however, after using it only a couple of times the driver failed to work. It is fully charged and the LED light works great, but nothing at all happens when the trigger is pulled, regardless of the direction of drive selected. It was somewhat embarrassing when I brought it to work, having bragged about all of the features only to have it fail the first time my employee went to use it. So, here it sits, BRAND NEW, BUT NOT FUNCTIONAL...very disappointing. I went to Lowes this morning and bought a lithium powered Black & Decker driver to replace this one...it comes with a 2-year guarantee from a reputable company, so should it fail, at least it would be replaced. My recommendation: NO MATTER HOW GOOD THIS PRODUCT LOOKS, STAY AWAY FROM IT.

Failed After a Few Uses,
This review is from: ChannelLock Dual Driver Xl 4-Volt Lithium Ion Compact Cordless Drill/Driver (Misc.)
Like others, I was delighted to get this as a Christmas gift from my wife; but, like others, after just a couple of months the unit failed. The battery was fully charged but no matter what operational configuration I tried, the driver would operate for only an instant. As far as I'm concerned, ChannelLock put a faulty product on the market. It doesn't even deserve one star. They should be ashamed. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT.

Nice drill if it worked!,

I bought two of these a few months ago & gave one to my son.I loved the features it had. Unfortunately both died after a few small easy jobs. As others have said, when the trigger is squeezed, it just lurches a bit, even though the battery is charged & there is no load. Once in a while it turns, but rarely. It started doing this rarely when first used but not it's useless. A great idea flawed by poor quality control or bad design. I expected more from a brand I trusted in plyers since I was a kid.

I like them,
This review is from: ChannelLock Dual Driver Xl 4-Volt Lithium Ion Compact Cordless Drill/Driver (Misc.)
I bought 4 of them.. 2 of them failed..I needed to know why..so I opened them up..Soldered a wire onto where I thought it would help, and now both of them work! ...I informed Allied tools of this. I was not expecting them to do much about it. But they mailed me two new units!..So now I have 6 drivers..Its very rare in this economy for a company to do something like this! I have a whole new respect for Allied tools. For a 4v household driver, these are pretty good..Some seem to have power issues from a component failure on the circuit board, and Allied tools is doing the right thing...I see that I am one of the very few giving a 5 star review, but they deserve it.. they backed up their product.. and went beyond what I expected!

dissapointing cordless drill driver,

This review is from: ChannelLock Dual Driver Xl 4-Volt Lithium Ion Compact Cordless Drill/Driver (Misc.)
I am very disappointed with Channel Lock which is a reputable name, this is the second time I purchase this item, I had to return the first one because the first time after charging all night prior to use, it did not work, it sounded like the battery did not held the charge. I really like the design and the "functionality" so I decided to buy another one, thinking I had gotten a bad one the first time. The drill did exactly the same thing, the charging light comes one but it would not do anything, two out of two bad that is not a coincidence: this item although desirable has some very bad flaws. I like it so much that I would buy it again if they solve that battery problem.

I got this unit to use as a string winder for guitar. It worked well for two months and then quit. I contacted the seller and they said they didn't have anymore and that I should call the number on the package. I did that and got company called Allied, which said they would replace the unit, but that they were out of them and due to the bad weather and nuclear waste the plants shut down, and yada yada. I waited till today (June 9th) and called them again and they said the units might show up at the end of the month. They did say they had another unit that didn't have the extra attachments and also that didn't rotate to the pistol grip type configuration. I told them i didn't need that, so they said they would ship the replacement unit tomorrow. We'll see how long this next one works. I guess your better off just spending the big bucks and get another brand like Hitachi, or Makita with lithium ion battery. don't waste you money on this one.UPDATE: So far so good with the replacement, It is essentially the same as the first unit but without the ability to add attachements. It works good but if its the same inside as the other it may not work for long, will report back if it quits.

No idea how or why it failed, but one day I picked up the screwdriver, and all it does is make a small click. Battery is full, but the screwdriver itself just doesn't work anymore.A shame -- we really liked the extra offset features.

Like most of the other reviews, my Channel Lock Dual Driver died after the first uses. One user suggested that you can solder a bypass wire from the battery to the motor and it should work again. Well it did appear to work, but does not hold a charge well. I liked the offset attachments so well that I was almost ready to buy another one until I tried the attachments on a SKIL 4V (2354-01)driver and found that they fit just fine. With many good reviews on the SKIL, I bought one and expect better results. Good news is the parts fit! I guess I am posting these comments to let you know IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A CHANNEL LOCK THAT DON'T WORK, YOU CAN STILL USE THE COOL ATTACHMENTS. Don't buy the Channel Lock!

Like so many others here I used it only a few times and it stopped working. I didn't even use it enough to use up the first charge. I was very happy with it and thought it would be better quality. The problem seems to be the trigger. I suppose if I can get an exchange it will probably happen again. This seems to be a common problem.

Nice features, failed after a few weeks of very light use,
This review is from: ChannelLock Dual Driver Xl 4-Volt Lithium Ion Compact Cordless Drill/Driver (Misc.)
I had the same problem mentioned by many others here; after a while the driver just stopped spinning, even with a fresh charge on the battery. Once in a while a lucky pull of the trigger will cause the thing to engage and then it works with plenty of power, but most of the time it just doesn't respond.
