Just an FYI to anyone looking to buy a 357, they are no longer polished, and there is now a rivet attaching the two sides instead of a flat internal rivet. They still feel sturdy, but the tool doesn't "look" as nice as it used to. Looks pretty cheap now. Only one side of the tool is sharpened, the sharpened edge presses against a very slight flat surface on the opposite jaw.

There is a blunt side and a sharp side to these nips. On the first use I was pulling nails out of a timber frame, and sharp side of the pliers just shattered leaving a quarter inch chip in the sharp side. After one days use they no longer cut nails and when you are pulling nails it tracks directly back into the chip. Buy Knipex, costs more but worth it

I bought these because I had a pair of my grandfathers I used all the time by the same manufacturer. Boy did they change and not for the good. These are heavy and clumsy to work with. Not the craftsmanship of the old pair at all. These even have a big nut on the side of them!

I constantly have this tool in my belt.

The Nipper is great for cutting or pulling stubborn nails or staples in tight places. It is also a decent cable cutter.

Cutting small pieces of unhardened metal is also easy with this plier. Fnally-it works great to cut off that jagged fingernail edge so you can comfortably continue working until lunch

I purchased this to cut 4-40 screws which were poking too far out. The right-angle cutter would not fit into the space. This cut the screws easily with one hand, provided you've got a medium-strong grip. I cut 8 screws in under 1 minute.

Professional user here. This is one tool I would demand be in my tool pouch everyday. I've had several through the years and the reason I've had several is that others took a liking to this tool enough to conviently lose them on me.. As a carpenter, I primarily used this to remove all types of nails quickly and safely along with other cutting chores. This is a well balanced compact tool that fits in the pouch and is well enough built that it holds up under use. You need to develope a touch in order to pull out lighter trim nails instead of cutting them off. These are nippers so they will cut. I actually had one nippers that chips in one corner which in turn created an ideal nail puller since it then gripped the nail but didn't cut.. I love this simple tool.

So far, so good with these. I bought them mostly to use for woodworking--they work great to pull/roll nails out of wood for those times when your work is not quite as...perfect as you would like it to be. As such, I don't need something super sharp, so the cutter/anvil arrangement of these pliers is not a problem for me like some people. And that I believe would be the only issue I could take with these pliers: if you need raw cutting power, you aren't going to get it here necessarily. I would probably turn to a pair of diagnol side cutting pliers (to be PC) rather than these.

I looked high and low around Southwest Michigan for a new pair of these pricks. Every carpenter I know, including myself, uses these for pulling nails and staples. Lowe's, Menards, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Meijer, Harbor Freight, and Sears include a FEW of the places I looked, not including the local electrical shops. Not one of those places carried a set larger than 3.5", which looked more like nail clippers than anything. They work great, and even better yet I actually found a pair!
