As a Union Electrician, Ive used many Types of "Slip Joint Pliers", and Channellock 440s are always appropriate for any Gripping Job You have, Big Or Small. Excellent Locking Power allows you to hold even if you lose your grip on the tool.Theres a reason why Channel lock is the trade name for the tool, regardless of brand.

I was thinking about this tool a bit before I bought it. Since I got a tool chest about ten years ago my tools are organized and seem to stick around and be found. I own a pair of cheap Chinese made channel locks that just didn't seem to be good enough to screw down the drain bolt under my sink. What I thought about was that I hope I didn't end up with something cheaply made again that is just good enough to get the job done. If I save or spend an extra $10 it doesn't mean much because hopefully I'll be using this for decades. Sooner or later I'll forget what I spent on the tool and will only be left with the quality of the tool itself, either praising it or cursing it during many different tasks.

If you are used to cheap pairs of channel locks this will be a noticeable improvement. It just feels like a solid tool in your hands. As you look over the tool carefully you can see the pride in workmanship. There was a time, perhaps 50 or 100 years ago that the term "Made in America" really meant something. It was a quality symbol, it meant that you really don't need to look any further, this is what you should buy.

Hold this tool in your hands, look it over, you'll see the Old American workmanship in the tool. That's a compliment. When you think about how much tool you get for under $20 this is a screaming deal. Resist you urge to save a few bucks buying the cheap Chinese version . Buy this instead, you'll be really glad you did!

This is, by far, the single most used tool I have had for my entire life. The 440 Channellock not only works on so many plumbing applications but also for electrical, automotive, carpentry(pulls nails and grips studs), and just about anything else you can work on. I have had one pair since I was a child and they still work good even though they are the most worn, used, and abused tool I have. If I were being tortured and could have only one tool I would have to pick this one. It is an absolute necessity and highly recommended. Channellock is also still made in U.S.A. and that just makes me recommend them more. Look for those blue handles stickin' out 'cause that's the tool your lookin' for.

The quality of these USA made tools is uncompromising. The precision of the machined groves shows when you set the tool...no slipping or movement .. How often to you buy a tool like this? Only once if t=you buy this.. worth a few extra dollars to last the rest of your life,,, The 12 inch length provide a lot of torque to remove many stubborn parts.
Again MADE IN USA

I think everyone should have a pair of these. At first glance they look like something that only a plumber or a heavy-equipment mechanic should need, but you'll be amazed at the range of things you find yourself using them for. I call them my "persuaders." I'm little and I don't have great hand strength so they are endlessly useful in working on my five old cars. I've used them for everything from popping loose a stuck oil filler cap to reshaping bent spring clips. They've got surprising dexterity and precision for something so huge, and I tend to think of them as functioning like an elephant's trunk: able to pluck a single blade of grass. Channellock continues to make consistently impressive products despite their modest pricing. I love these pliers!

Hi,

My tools got ripped off recently and I am slowly replacing a set that took me years to accumulate. Some products like Vise-Grips and a LOT of Craftsman are now made in china.

Channellock are still USA made and not over priced proving American made products are still viable alternatives and should be your first choice.

USA alone does not mean the best quality but in the case it does. I can find no performance difference between these and any 30 year old long gone one!

Thanks Channellock! I'll support your USA decision by buying more of you products and avoiding off-shore alternatives. I'll even pay a little more to make sure you stay high quality USA.

Buy the best and cry once

These are the size, type and brand of channel groove pliers that we use when we install piping on all those big US
Navy Destroyers and Amphibious Assault ships we build down here in sunny Mississippi. I think those good folks over in Alabama prefer Channellock Brand pliers to use as they build the Navy's new Littoral Combat Ship class too.
When I was working on USS Makin Island a few years ago I tried a different brand of channel lock pliers and they were awful.
