5.0 out of 5 stars Just a great Tool, June 7, 2000

As a Union Electrician, Ive used many Types of "Slip Joint Pliers", and Channellock 440s are always appropriate for any Gripping Job You have, Big Or Small. Excellent Locking Power allows you to hold even if you lose your grip on the tool.Theres a reason why Channel lock is the trade name for the tool, regardless of brand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, July 13, 2010

In this case, the original is the best. I've had similar tools that are "made in China" that don't last or even do the job well in the beginning. These are made in the U.S.A. are well built and will seem to stand the test of time. Why spend money getting new tools every couple years, when you can spend a little more in the beginning for tools that will last a lifetime. The answer is simple: invest now in quality and you won't be disappointed later.

Found channel locks to be of good quality, strong, lock system well machined so they dont slip. Handles dipped making them easy to grip. Recommend them over similar manufacturers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Tool Ever Made, September 29, 2007

This review is from: Channellock 440 12-Inch Tongue and Groove Plier (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is, by far, the single most used tool I have had for my entire life. The 440 Channellock not only works on so many plumbing applications but also for electrical, automotive, carpentry(pulls nails and grips studs), and just about anything else you can work on. I have had one pair since I was a child and they still work good even though they are the most worn, used, and abused tool I have. If I were being tortured and could have only one tool I would have to pick this one. It is an absolute necessity and highly recommended. Channellock is also still made in U.S.A. and that just makes me recommend them more. Look for those blue handles stickin' out 'cause that's the tool your lookin' for.

Arrived very quickly (Prime) and the item is a quality product. This size is larger than usually needed but I wanted them for the sometimes larger jobs. If you're tired of the cheap junk from China that will slip the grooves and pinch your hand when pressure applied, this set will do you proud.

Made in the USA, and it shows in the quality. Makes me glad that I lost my old pair and needed a replacement.

This channellock plier is very well made, high quality metal and good vinyl around the ends. It grips well. All the reviewers I read mostly raved about it, and THEY WERE RIGHT. I've had other pliers of this nature, and they didn't grip the objects very well, and they just didn't work that well. This tool WORKS, trust me! (Well, like anything else, there is the usual disclaimer, like if you are trying to have it grip a slippery surface like waxed or oiled round surfaces, it may not work that well; you gotta use some common sense.)

5.0 out of 5 stars These are Good!, April 28, 2011

These are the size, type and brand of channel groove pliers that we use when we install piping on all those big US

Navy Destroyers and Amphibious Assault ships we build down here in sunny Mississippi. I think those good folks over in Alabama prefer Channellock Brand pliers to use as they build the Navy's new Littoral Combat Ship class too.

When I was working on USS Makin Island a few years ago I tried a different brand of channel lock pliers and they were awful.
