I've been a fan of Gregorian Chant for over 40 years and I think this recording is the most beautiful and satisfying I have ever heard. If you don't have an SACD player, get one.

Sequentia is an outstanding group and consistent hit makers. This collection of chant stands above anything you'd get outside of sitting in the great cathedrals listening to the brothers themselves. If you want to know the depth of chant, get this album.

The Sequentia early music ensemble and Ensemble Dialogos join forces on this recording to produce a superb collection of early music! A great mixture of polyphony and plainchant, and even some of Benjamin Baby's great instrumentation can be found on this disk. The lament for Emperor Charlemagne is definitely a favorite for me! Any fan of early / medieval music should not miss this recording!

If one is looking for Gregorian chanting in surround, get this. That's all it is.
I did not find anything exciting about the placement of the vocals in the surround channels.
I was hoping that the mix engineer would have some interesting tricks up his/her sleeve which would utilize the surround feature in a fascinating way, but the surround is, unfortunately only just ambient sound as if the listener is in the cathedral/chamber room and is hearing "echo" sounds bouncing off the rear walls. Thus, the surround application on this recording was flat.
I must say, however , the quality of the recording itself is superior .
