Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Chantal tea ball teakettle features long-lasting stainless-steel components coated by an attractive ceramic finish. The nonreactive enamel interior prevents metal from reacting with the water, delivering a healthier, better-tasting tea. The kettle's smooth, flat base includes a quick-heating aluminum core, and is safe for use with ceramic, glass, and induction stovetops. You'll know the water is boiling once the genuine Hohner harmonica whistle sounds its two notes. In addition, the kettle offers a spring-loaded, stay-open flipper that keeps your fingers away from the steam while pouring. Chantal offers replacement parts if a part deteriorates, letting tea aficionados enjoy a lifetime of use. In addition, the kettle features an extra-large lid opening for easy cleaning.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will the color fade?
A: Never. However, gas stoves have been known to cause discoloration on the bottom.
Q: How do I clean it?
A: Chantal teakettles are dishwasher-safe. You will need to occasionally boil a quart of water with 1/4 cup vinegar for 10 to 15 minutes to remove lime deposits from the Hohner whistle.
Q: Will it work on all stoves?
A: Yes, including glass and ceramic tops as well as magnetic induction.
Q: Why are replacement parts available? Is it a quality issue?
A: Chantal uses nothing but the highest-quality materials available. However, the materials in the lid gasket and the whistle simply will not last as long as the enamel pot, and by offering replacement parts for these items, your teakettle can last a lifetime.

2.0 out of 5 stars Basically just for looks, May 18, 2007
This review is from: Chantal Enamel-on-Steel 1.3-Quart Tea Ball, Cobalt Blue (Kitchen)
I bought this because it was so neat looking. The problem is, that's about all it is. It does boil water, but because of it's super small base, it takes forever for the water in the ball to heat. My mother also has this and I always witness her boiling water in a pan and then transferring it to the teapot because it takes so long to boil. What's the point in that? Plus, the handle gets super hot, and you have to remove the "whistler" before you pour anything (which also is super hot). Purely for looks.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has a one-note whistle, April 12, 2007

While the kettle looks good, I was disappointed in the performance and the description. I wanted another Chantal kettle that had the harmonic whistle. Just looking at the specifications on various websites, I was doubtful about the harmonic whistle. I bought the kettle based on a review at this site stating there was a two-note whistle. Well, the kettle I got sounded only one note. When I called the Chantal customer service representative, she confirmed the kettle only used one note, despite the fact that even the box that came with the kettle notes a "harmonic whistle." The informational literature that came with the kettle also talks about reeds in the whistle. There were no reeds that I could detect. Did I get a dud whistle? Not according the Chantal's customer service.

The kettle base is smaller than the smallest burner on my stove, so it's quite easy to get the handle hot. It's also easy to get the spout hot, which the informational notice warns not to do, or the whistle might melt.

I'll be buying the larger classic kettle as a replacement.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but stainless version even better, November 29, 2008

This is a great tea-pot, IMO, if you need around a 53 OZ capacity. It is small and convenient for its capacity. And it looks great.

But only 4 stars, because the stainless Steel version looks even better, has a double thick bottom for heating, and looks even better.

But if you need more than one, like I do, then having different colors helps know which is which.
