Great product,

I purchased this item 15 years ago. Loved it so much that I thought I would get another. The original pan still is functional and I use it every day.

Base of the pan is too small. (somewhere between 5 and 6 inches),

It's hard to tell what the width of the pan's base will be by looking at the picture. It would be useful for the product description to specify the base width.
The base of the pan was much smaller than we expected; somewhere between 5 and 6 inches. It's much smaller than other 8 inch pans we have. The pan is also deeper than we expected, which might explain why the base is so small. We intended to use the pan for pancakes and omelets, but its just to small for that job. We're sending the pan back in exchange for the 10 inch pan. Unfortunately, we'll lose the shipping on the return. Hopefully this review will help someone else avoid the same mishap.

I bought this pan about a month ago after doing a lot of research, and I am very happy with it. It really does not stick if you follow the directions and spray with pan before allowing it to sufficiently preheat, probably 2-3 minutes. As a general rule, I watch it closely and as soon as it starts steaming a little I'll add the food. I fry eggs in it every morning and they slide right out just as sexy as can be. :) My only complaint is that it does not come with a lid, which is something that was not made apparent to me when I ordered. Thankfully, I've kept the lids from all my crappy non-stick skillets and pots that have long since been scratched and gone in the trashcan, and they seem to fit fine. I do hand-wash mine to keep it shiny and beautiful, and it cleans up super easy. I've since bought the 11 inch pan to match.

NOT HEALTHY,

These pots and pans are NOT as healthy as they say. I've noticed reactions to foods at the bottom of the pots and pans. Also, the rim all around DOES collect dirty water and DOES spill into your food when you cook. The heat builds up and releases it. They are extremely heavy, and although the handle doesn't get as hot toward the end, the other grab handle does get extremely hot. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND these at all. Customer service is very poor. They do not deserve any stars at all.

This pan works very well with gas - on low setting. Period!,

Just bought this pan via e-bay ($12+shipping). Did not know what the brand was until I found it here on Amazon. Have been searching/buying/trying/comparing several pans for sauted/roasted potato, carrot, onion with olive oil/butter with touch of Italian seasoning dish I make regularly. [Have stopped using non-stick.] This little pan is perfect on low gas heat. Quick cooking because the pan really gets hot and retains heat; believe that is why many say food is sticking [probably a combination of electric burner and/or heat too high for this pan]. I toss the food while it cooks - this pan is light enough for me to do that. Believe this pan is lighter than cast iron of same size. This pan is made in Germany and is enamel over steel. Just right for me. Good luck with your search! Recap: Gas, low heat, lightness works for me.

I bought his pan to replace a 10+year old Wearever 8" non-stick pan whose coating was starting to flake, although it hadn't been very non stick for a while. After doing a ton of research on "healthy/environmentally" friendly non-stick, I gave up as there doesn't seem to be any research to substantiate all the claims. I also didn't want anything made in China for ethical reasons. This was less than half the price of a decent non-stick pan and made in Germany, so I figured it was worth the try.
The pan is solidly made and has just the right amount of heft. The handle looks a bit thin but feels very solid. The blue color looks very sharp. The slides slope in so the bottom is about 6" on the flat part. perfect for a 2-3 egg omelette. My first attempt at cooking was a disaster. On medium high heat with just a drop of oil the egg stuck badly and took a look of work to clean. However after a few try's I found a good get a good egg on medium-low heat. Despite the stick resistant claim, I think the enamel is only marginally better than stainless steel in the stick department. You have to use oil or butter for sure, and practice to find the right heat level. I'm a vegetarian and don't consume any animal fat, so I'm not to worried about using a little grape-seed or olive oil on my eggs. I use a misto sprayer to limit the amount i use. Clean up is easy when cooking on low heat, but higher heat does make things hard to clean The pan is also a good size to saute some onions or perhaps cook 1 burger. Overall a great inexpensive pan that well built and made in a country that respects their workers and the environment. A great alternative to non-stick if you are concerned at PTFE/PFOA.

Great non-stick pan that cleans easily,

I bought this pan from Amazon about 3 months ago. It's been great so far as I use it to make hot cereal for my two kids in the morning. At first, I used it on the burner set to "high" as with my other pans, but that just caused the milk to scald and burn into the pan. Finally, I figured out that you have to have to set the burner to "medium" or lower. The low heat prevents burns and makes clean-up a breeze.
* It has a good solid feel to it. * Doesn't have the poisonous non-stick coating as in other pans. * If used in medium to low heat, clean up is really easy. Just soak and few scrubs later, it's all clean. I hope it lasts 15 years like the other reviewer. |
