4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best groups the genre has to offer!
This was the first Black Tape album I had the luck to hear all the way through. Sam Rosenthal's voice sounds so painfully serene that you don't have to know the words to feel the emotions. Everyone can find at least one song on this album they will identify with. The album is in the more traditional(if there is such a thing) vein of gothic music but has some ambient...

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring tape for a boring girl
"the rope" was the first record by BTFBG. It's pretty good, nice and relaxing. However, this record is just terrible, it's not even relaxing in an interesting way, it's just sleepy background music. The "skin flute" reference was an obscene joke that guy made, didn't you get it?

Everyone can find at least one song on this album they will identify with. The album is in the more traditional(if there is such a thing) vein of gothic music but has some ambient qualities as well. The combination of Sam's voice and the instruments which support him reveal the secret heart behind the tortured soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best black tape cd !, April 3, 2003

In my opinion this is Balck Tapes best cd. It is not as dark as some of the other cds, and not as diverse as the earlier ones. It is slow relaxing and beautufull from the begining to the end.
And Julianna towns is the best of the female singers black tape ever had.

This one is really good, really relaxing. I love this music for after a rough day of doing whatever it is I do, and just to help me get into a better frame of mind and forget about it all. Did that one guy actually say someone was playing the skin-flute?!? I never heard that song on there, but it is really good stuff from one of the better groups of the genre.
