3.0 out of 5 stars Silly but fun - put the logical part of your brain on "pause", January 17, 2012
This review is from: Chaos Theory (Severn House Large Print) (Hardcover)
Once again, Masterton provides fun, silly reading.

This one involves a peace activist being stalked by assassins and a Hollywood stuntman who finds a strange medallion. Somehow these events are related, and the two must work together to stop all the multiple murders.

Put your logic aside for this thriller (meaning: no evil supernatural beings, as opposed to Masterton's horror novels) or you'll be distracted by things that make no sense. Such as . . .

***** SPOILER ALERT ********

If a 2,500-year-old secret terrorist organization wants to stay secret, why does it pass out identifying medallions to its members so that, if a medallion falls into the wrong hands, they have to kill everyone who comes into contact with it, whether they get what the medallion means or not?

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful Thriller, January 18, 2009
This review is from: Chaos Theory (Hardcover)
As always ,Graham Masterton has crafted a brilliant thriller that weaves characters, plot, sex, violence, most often ( in the Books of his I enjoy the most) with the supernatural, and a high emphasis on the sex and violence. However, I know that Masterton writes in several Genres, so I am very careful, but when one review seems to equate this with his book DESCENDANT ( a Vampire, or more correctly Strigoi, tale ), and then plot summary refers to some ancient Cuneiform , I was hooked. The horror-phile in me is not satiated ( although I was quite happy to have seen the film UNBORN recently, and I hope to buy the unrated version of MIRRORS soon) the political junky in me was happy to have been entertained by a wonderful tale of "Real-Politik" that crosses Millenia.
In Masterton's usual take no prisoner's style of thriller, he exhibits so much of the immediacy of his usual Horror style ( which had me fooled) together with the subtlty of Descendant's detail , as well as TRAUMA's eye for detail that had a different kind of pay-off.Masterton writes characters that jump off the page, and feel so very alive, something he has always done in his first person style, but few have the flair, in my view, as the rather show-offy Harry Erskine , a character I love, and wish had made the jump to film more recently , since Masterton's vivid, and most often LIVID style pay off in a way a great imagination in the reader or great FX on the screen can only do.
Fans of Graham Masterton will not be disappointed, even if this is a political thriller, and I am saying this so you will not have false expectations. And as soon as I can, I will be getting two new, definitely supernatural style Masterton titles HOUSE OF BONES, and GHOST MUSIC. In the mean time, You could do worse than getting the Master of suspense's book in this review...ENJOY
AND: If you are in Australia, stop complaining about Graham Masterton title Availability; you get a better variety than fans in the US.Plus, if you order through the Amazon stores, looking for second hand titles, rare, signed, or even unopened titles at higher prices ( thus effectively new) you have a broader selection since copyright restrictions stop sale of some titles in the US until certain dates, so you can order from Amazon UK, or even from Masterton's own web site, which I think is still running. I personally get my GM from Books a Million if I can't get it from Amazon, or the Amazon stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Graham Masterton does it again!, May 30, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Chaos Theory (Paperback)
Graham Masterton has the knack of taking existing, random information and forming it into brilliant fiction. In Chaos Theory, he shakes your pre-existing mindset that the world needs peace. I love Graham Masterton's work in that it's not only a fabulous and entertaining read, but he always makes you THINK!! He always presents some unique ways of looking at things you always took for granted until you read one of his books. I just wish his work was more easily available for Australian fans. Love ya GM!!
