4.0 out of 5 stars It is Chapin's best.
Good reasons for buying this model:

1. The wand is made of brass. It should be long lasting.

2. The unit shoots volumes of fluid at a long distance. As a result, this sprayer can double as a Super Soaker Water Gun for water fights between kids during the summer.

3. The wand hose is commercial grade.

4. Unlike other...

I loved this sprayer for the first year. Then the pump handle started to rust, did not move smoothly up and down to build pressure. Tried oiling it, tried a little of everything, nothing worked. Whey wouldn't they make the rod of a material that would not rust. You know it is going to get wet and wet causes rust (on this product). I will never buy another product made by...

This review is from: Chapin 21220 Premire 2-Gallon Pro Poly Sprayer (Lawn & Patio)

4. Unlike other brands, you can purchase replacement parts directly from factory. Unfortunately, the parts are so expensive that it is cheaper to buy another new sprayer.

5. The top screw-on cap is wide for easy pouring of fluids.

6. The built-in holder keeps the wand off the ground. This prevents dirt and debris from plugging up the wand's orifice.

7. The intake tube has a filter. As a result, the wand will never get clogged or rendered inoperable by dust and tiny debris floating inside the container.

Here are the bad things on this product:

1. It is expensive in comparison to other brands. Before you buy it, check out the manufacturer's website. It has specials at "give away prices." In June 2008, I bought a 3-gallon model at 50% of the price of a 2-gallon model.

2. The white plastic is not translucent. As a result, you can not read the raised volume markings from inside the container. Filling the sprayer can only be an inaccurate estimate.

3. The unit is too tall. For this reason, it tends to tilt over too easily.

4. The pressure release valve is located too close to the pump handle. Pumping the handle too fast may cause it to accidentally hit the pressure release valve and discharge air pressure.

5. The pump handle is made of mild steel. It rusted after a week. As a result, the metal has to constantly wiped with an oiled cloth to prevent further oxidation.

I use this sprayer to spray for ants and fleas around houses. I have ran many gallons through it and it hasn't let me down yet. I clean it after each use and hope it will last for years. The brass tip and wand is a nice touch.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a dud!, August 17, 2011

Out of the box this unit has a spray handle that will pinch your hand so wear a glove. The unit is very heavy and it is difficult to see the level of the contents you are trying to pour into it. The pump failed to maintain pressure. It looked real well made from the picture on Amazon but what a dud!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chapin customer support opinion, August 23, 2010
This review is from: Chapin 21220 Premire 2-Gallon Pro Poly Sprayer (Lawn & Patio)
I called Chapin with a question on SATURDAY. They were there, and they were very helpful. I suspect if anyone has an issue with one of their sprayers, then you should call them and the issue will be resolved. I was impressed. They are sending my parts free of charge.

Chapin has made the most reliable cost effective sprayers for the past 35 years I've been working. A reliable metal pump handle and directional pressure release so I do not get a face full of mist.

I chose the brass wand cause we spray diesel to start brush piles and the plastic wands melt. I splice a basic $2 gas filter into the tubing to keep debris from clogging the nozzle. Although the design does minimize debris getting down the pump shaft.

Would have preferred a longer wand, but I will upgrad down the line.
