This review is from: Up In Chapman's Hollow (Audio CD)
So many recordings of old-time fiddlers have value as part of the historical record, but little to recommend them in the way of musicality. "Up in Chapman's Hollow" is different. Not only is this a terrific selection of tunes, but Snake Chapman is also a fine fiddler. He plays with style and verve, stays (relatively) in tune, and in general is pleasing to the modern ear. The sensitive, knowledgeable playing of the backing musicians also contributes a lot to the quality of this CD.
Buy the CD if you can, because the liner notes are great.
