SOLID........NOT TOO BAD,

ALLURE is one of my favorite female groups and I was very suprised when I heard they were releasing a new album. I thought it was over for them when they released their sophmore album. I thought their sophmore album was good but didn't get any promotion just like this album. In order for a album to sell, you must promote it. I haven't seen them on TV or heard anything on the radio.
Even though they're short one member, ALLURE still proves that they can harmonize and compete with other female groups. They've stuck to their old style of music along with a new sound which is blended in. My favorite tracks so far are HATE 2 LUV U and LET HIM GO. Overall, these girls delivered a good album with hot tracks but promotion however is needed desperately.

Well Produced R&B Female Trio,
By Indiana Jeff Reynolds "Preacher Jeff" (Indianapolis, IN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chapter III (Audio CD)
Living in Indianapolis, what put this project on my radar was that the executive produce was then Indiana Pacer Ron Artest. This project was released less than a week after the infamous 2004 brawl in Detroit (just after Artest was suspended for the rest of the year), and less than a month after Artest said he wanted time off from the team to work on music (which he says he was joking). This project shows he's as good at music as he is on the basketball court (Artest is one of the best defenders in the NBA).
I always enjoy female singers, and I loved the sound of the harmonies and the background music. The only thing that made me uncomfortable: on the same project is the very seductive "Sitting At Home" and a wonderful Gospel Interlude. On the liner notes, all three singers start off praising Jesus. I'm not them, but as a Christian I consider the two paradoxal and not belonging on the same project, and I would not be comfortable singing or producing "Sitting At Home." Just my opinion. If you like female trios and R&B, and don't mind an occassional rap, you would enjoy this project.

Underated Soul Trio,

I guess radio stations and video channels think one girl group is enough but they missed out on this hot cd. Too bad for Allure. The songs on this cd are far more better than Destiny's flop of an album in 05'. There should be room for everybody in the music industry not just the commercially viable sell out groups.

Good Effort By An Underrated Group,
By MJS (Vancouver) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chapter III (Audio CD)
Allure "Chapter III" marks the 3rd album by this beautiful, talented, yet highly underrated group from the NYC. The album does have its high points: "Hate 2 Luv U" is a song that makes you feel like it's summer lovin' all over again, "Long Lost Love" and "Frustration" are pure R&B/Soul at its tightest, and "Sitting At Home" sways like a swing at the playground. However, a few tracks take a while to really get into: "Can't Stay Here With You" has an odd ragga beat but the girls harmonize so sweetly throughout, "Uh Oh" is a groovy reggae/dancehall track with a cloudy hook, and "Relax and Unwind" requires a few listens before you really feel it.
Overall, a solid effort from Allure. Highlights include: "Hate 2 Luv U", "Long Lost Love", "Sitting At Home" and "Frustration".

Washed Up Has-Beens,
This review is from: Chapter III (Audio CD)
This record is terrible in every way imaginable. I was so excited to get this record today because I'm a huge Allure fan from back in the day. But man, this thing sucks. Starting with the packaging which is beyond cheezy and you'd think they'd take a better picture of them for the cover. Then once you start listening to the cd you realize that Allure is now nothing but has-beens. There is absolutely zero soul both in the lyrics and the music. The production is 3rd rate at best. I'm sure they'll be playing a crappy county fair sometime in the near future instead of selling out arenas.

Free Artest,
By Brian Shaw "bshaw20" (Orlando, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chapter III (Audio CD)
This is the much-ballyhooed album that Ron Artest tried to promote non-stop and also the cause of a 2-game suspension. Now that Ron-Ron has been suspended for the season he can keep on promoting this. It's the first album I have seen with the producer credit on the front! I dunno, the only Allure songs I liked was from back then. I'm not really feeling this album. Artest even has a cameo appearance and I'm sorry, but he can't rap. TruWarier indeed.

What a Shame... 3 1/2 stars for effort,
By Dezire (long island, ny) - See all my reviews

I used to love this group with their first two albums, but with the departure of Linnie and a major label it definitely shows negatively on this album. My favorite would be " Let Him Go", "Relax and Unwind", which took a couple of listens,"Stay", and "Long Lost Love" . There's great ballads which are better than the uptempos. On the flipside, you do get to see more vocal skills from Lalisha and Akissa. They need to get on a better known record label and get their stuff heard. Don't count these girls out, I'll still support ya'll thats what a real Allure fan does.

Good Album,
By Greg (Detroit, MI) - See all my reviews

After reading some of the posted reviews I had come close to giving up on Allure and not even trying to hear their new cd for myself. I'm very glad I changed my mind and went ahead and purchased it. This is the best and most consistent album Allure has released. They long ago proved that they could sing but I couldn't help but notice that their voices are stronger and more confident than compared to their previous albums plus they can harmonize like few others can. The album contains elements of Pop, R&B, and Hip Hop. Some of my favorite tracks are Hate 2 Luv Ya, Relax and Unwind, Let Em Go, Bitter Sweet, Uh-Oh, Frustration, and Stay. Every song on this album is just as good if not better than the majority of what is listed on the Billboard Hot 100.

Not even a little alluring,
By Shay (CA) - See all my reviews

This album was a joke. The amateurish production and whiny (he did me wrong)lyrics grated on my nerves. Allure owes me $13.98. Don't do it to yourself. The only halfway decent song was "Hate to Love You" and that was remake of a 3LW tune. If you have to borrow songs from 3LW you might as well hang it up and get a day job. Allure and their super producer Ron Artest are a bunch of wanksters.

Not So Alluring,
By Critik "Juan" (Baltimore, MD) - See all my reviews

The song "Hate To Love You" is a remake of 3LW "Hate To Love You" that can be found on the "LOVE DONT COST A THING" soundtrack. That is the movie with Christina Milian and Nick Cannon. It is the same exact song.
