The unit does not get hot enough to do a good job on steaks, etc. Also seems to smoke a lot and the heating unit does not remove for cleaning.

This product cooks very well. This is not infrared. This is heat coils. Just turn the dial and the grill is on. Use the temperature gauage on top for your desired cooking temp and in minutes the food is done. It also has a drip pan underneath. Great for RV ing. Use electricity instead of charcoal or LP.

While I like grilled food I've never had the time or energy to get into charcoal or propane. I'd been getting by with a couple indoor panini grills but when I found this on clearance at 25 dollars I had to give it try. Its actually quite large and solid/heavy. Everything about it feels heavy duty except the grilling surface. It feels a little light weight and you could bend it with your hands, though it has held up fine for me for a year. I keep the grill stored in the shed and carry it out to use. My Black & Decker WM125 Workmate 125 350-Pound Capacity Portable Work Bench makes a great grill stand-- the wood top gets warm but never damaged. If you put it on a glass or wood table you'll likely want to use something for protection.

I plug it in and turn it up to the highest setting. In about 10 minutes it's at 400 degrees. Once the meat goes on the temp drops to around 250 and stays there while grilling. I put 6 burgers on it easily and looked like it would fit 8. There is quite a bit of smoke so I would not recommend using this indoors. The burgers were cooked perfectly in 10 minutes, had nice sear lines and tasted great-- about the same as any "real" grilled food I've had. I haven't tried any really thick meat but another review said it wasn't hot enough for steak. Personally I'd expect it to work but it may take a little extra time and effort.

Cleanup is pretty easy. The meat tends to stick to the surface so I'll leave it running for about 15 minutes to burn some of it off. The grease has caught fire a few times (but you wouldn't know unless you open it). I wasn't sure if this was safe so I turned it off right away.

dosent get as hot as my last egg shapped electric grill of the same brand and the temp gauge shows condensation.........what would be great would be an attached goose neck SS lamp attached to the side for grilling in the dark .........the actual grill surface is cheap and thin so the enamel can break off from flexing

This is just like the one they had for 15 years. Same brand, same name and same quality just newer design. Can't beat that.
