First I'll start with how the product arrived from Amazon. When the UPS guy took it off the truck the box was falling apart and the end was ready to split wide open. It made it about 20ft. to my back porch where the end did split open. I guess you could say it made it to where it had to but this thing is heavy and should be in heavier corrugate for the outer pack box.
All parts are porcelain coated or ceramic and are made from heavy gauge steel. Nothing flexes or bends when you pick it up by an edge. Very nice. Assembly is very easy and can be done with a Phillips head and a 7/16" wrench / socket combination. The bottom is raised which is very nice as it places the fire and the heat off the ground or surface you are placing it on. Once assembled it is very heavy and awkward to move by yourself so have it in place first or have a helper or two, as I said it's heavy gauge steel coated with porcelain. Once I had it in place we began using it that night. The one thing that became a bit of a problem was that even though it's larger than most and can accommodate larger pieces of wood.... when you put a piece in, even if it just bumps the side slightly the sides pop open. There is nothing holding the sides on other than 2 slots in the bottom, the top is free to fall outward whenever, it's just the slight angle that holds them there. Would have been nice to see a small latch, magnet or something. What I ended up doing was putting a piece of wire on the sides I don't open often and leaving one side open for loading. That way I can just unhook the wire end and open up for cleaning. I have had several large fires in this that lasted hours through the night and had the bottom glowing a nice orange. It holds up well without warping at all. Again, very nice. After I had a fire going for about 3 hours I placed my hand near, then on the bottom metal. Barely warm. This would be very nice if you were placing on a patio or deck as I have not experienced it getting hot at all on the bottom. The other nice thing is that all sides are removable for loading, toasting marshmallows or cleaning. Overall I give this 4 stars ONLY because the sides have no latch to keep them from popping open. Be careful when having people sitting around it if this happens as something could spill out. Add a piece of wire or your own latch and it's perfect!

I've owned two of these. First one lasted about 11 years. It's a great patio fireplace and holds up well. It's the right height and perfect for watching the fire on a cool evening lor letting the kids roast marsh mellows. I would recommend getting the "Deluxe" as it's a bit longer and thus is a better fit for the average size piece of firewood.
If it has any flaw, its the door screens. They rust and can't be replaced. New doors cost as much as the whole unit.

The frame and base of unit is solid and well built. It looks like a Japanese building and looks cool on my cement patio
near a pool. I enjoyed it for five months and yes the screens hold on with only gravity and I live in a non-windy area. The quality of the screen material is the problem. It is thin gauge screen mess and then painted. After a few strong fires it will start to rust. Forget the wire brush. The screen material becomes completely brittle in five months and vaporized into rust dust. All four go pretty much at the same time. Replacement screens are $29.99 and all you get from their customer service is "I understand" over and over after they only offer to sell you replacements that will last the same amount of time. No deals, no discounts, no advice on how to keep them lasting longer. So you got this great solid frame that will likely last years but after shipping, the four replacement screens will cost the same as buying a complete new unit here at Amazon. Does that make sense? Char-Broil is not a good company.

I purchased this fireplace after reading the reviews on other fireplaces. This made the top of my list because of the porcelain finish. It is very durable and will hold up to the weather. The side screens that others are noting as rusting, that is going to happen once any kind of paint is burned off. And you cannot put the porcelain coating on a screen because of the process required. The other reviewers comments about the poor packaging, no kidding! It is terrible! If you purchase one make sure that the package is intact before the carrier leaves so the fasteners are inside so you can assemble the fireplace. I added the picture to show how it looks with wood burning inside the unit.

Went for the deluxe size as recommended and am glad we did. Big, holds good size logs, and this was a pretty solid fireplace. Easy to put together, nice weight to it, and had only one fire in it but were really pleased.

The fireplace is well built and sturdy - great for making smores with the family. The only complaint is the removable side panels while great for all side access fall over easily. There is nothing to hold them in place on the top.

I had a Coleman outdoor fireplace, but after 10 years it needed replacing. I looked carefully through all available (no Coleman), and bought this one. Wrong choice! We have used it one (1) time. First of all we put some paper in it with the log to burn, and the paper blew out through the screen all over the yard. Also, the screens are separate for each side, and there are no clips to keep them secure. When the wind started blowing all four sides fell down. What a mess! To add more problems, it has a sticker on one of the legs that says in part "do not use on wood decking, dry grass etc." which I didn't see and it put a burn mark on my deck. The morning after my only use of this fireplace I went outside and noticed that the screens were rusted. It might have rained that night, but rust after one use??? We are cutting our loss and throwing it away as it is absolutely of no use.

Love it!,

I decided to buy this one instead of one of the table-top fire pits because I figured the heat from a fire pit would only go up, and not out, and especially wouldn't go down towards your legs like this one would. I think I was right, the top of this is solid other than where the smoke goes out, so it forces the heat out the sides. It's also low to the ground, so the heat definitely warms your legs. I also like that it is long enough to fit normal length logs, and it's easy to put wood in from all four sides because the screens just lean back (you don't have to take them all the way off).
I've used it half a dozen times, and so far I love it! I think another review mentioned that the screens rust pretty quickly because the heat burns off the paint. They suggested just spraying it with some high temp paint before using it. I was going to do that, but didn't get around to it and didn't want to wait to use it. So the screens are pretty rusty. I'll grab some paint and a wire brush and I'm sure it will be fine. You can't even see the rust when a fire is going anyway. When I first took it out of the box, the metal pieces seemed a little thin to me, and also a little more shiny than I was expecting. I think in the back of my head I was expecting some kind of cast iron thing like the old wood stove that I grew up with as a kid. Of course that would have weighed 10 times what this one weighs, and it would probably have cost 10 times more as well. It was easy to put together, only needed a screwdriver. Just a bunch of screws and nuts, lots of them though, so maybe took 20 or 30 minutes. For what you get, and for the price, this is a GREAT outdoor fireplace that is going to give me a lot of fun nights on my patio sipping wine and smoking cigars by the fire!

When assembled, it looks great. The box was a bit beat-up during the delivery process and the bottom was slightly bend, but my husband used a hammer to get the bends out. Due to the bends, the paint came off and was rusted. We will have to treat that areas and paint over it. But overall, it looks great and we can't wait to use it (with the upcoming fall weather approaching).
