I bought this grill to use at my business for a weekly grill party for the employees. One of our production workers assembled the grill in about 30 minutes - there are a lot of parts. The key to a quick assembly is following the instructions exactly. Do not assume anything - check each part carefully to make sure it is the right one and that you are installing it correctly.

The grill works fine, but has a few flaws. The grate is a fairly light wire with wide spacing, so you have to be careful flipping burgers or else they may slip through and end up at the bottom of the grill. Also the grate is flush with the top edge of the body so hot dogs will roll off onto the ground if you're not careful. But at about $90 it is a great buy! It does the job with a few minor inconveniences and there is a good side burner to boot!

Update
I paid less than $90 for this grill in May. It is now listed for more than $240. Even gas hasn't increased in price as fast. This grill is in no way worth more than about $100! Ours still works and does an acceptable job, but it needs frequent cleaning to minimize flareups and has the flaws mentioned in the original review. There are better deals elsewhere.

I don't normally write reviews but after seeing the one sided slanted review of this product I must retort. I helped my parents put this grill together after they ordered it and had no trouble at all. In response to the other review I must say "a bad carpenter always blames the tools rather than him/her self." Let's be honest, there is nothing fancy about this grill. My parents are older, and just wanted something simple to use to grill out every now and then. This grill has been perfect for them and they continue to bore my brother and I with their grilling success stories. If they were willing to take the time they would give it high marks so I am doing it for them.

I am not very good at grilling and my old grill was a piece of junk. I checked several grills and read many recommendations before purchasing this grill. Mine came perfect, not 1 scratch or piece missing. The ignitor button actually worked when it was time to try it. I have never been able to grill chicken and have it turn out good, until I bought THIS grill. I love it, I made my mom proud with my grilled chicken. I am now able to grill good food and have it turn out perfect. I really love that you don't need the bricks to burn with them. Clean up is very easy too. My BBQ sauce didn't even stick. I can not say enough good things about this grill.

Background: I purchasde this grill for use by my wife and myself. We generally only grill 2 or 3 times a week for 3 or 4 months a year. A single propane tank will always last more then a year. So, I wasn't looking for something heavy duty or long lasting. Just a burger, chicken, and steak grill.

Assembly:
It took my wife and I 2 hours to assemble. It could have been accomplished in less time if we just looked at the pictures. The written instructions don't always follow the pictures and are misleading. Just use the pictures is my suggestion. Also, a little previous grill burner replacement knowledge is helpful.

Cooking:
It was fine. The grilling surface has thin bars more then 1/2 inch a part so chicken steak ends can droop down if not positioned carefully. For us it was fine.

General Info:
I had a Char Broil, very similiar, made in 2006 in the US and it was much sturdier and better constructed, with a heavy metal firebox. This new one is made in China, and is less then half the weight, with a firebox that feels very thin, and a frame that would not withstand much abuse.

Final Thought:
For our usage, its fine, I have no buyer remorse. And would recommed to someone like myself who doesn't want to spend much for a lightly used item.

I hesitated purchasing this grill after reading the negative reviews. There are a number of parts and if the assembly is rushed, I can see the frustration with mistakes. Some of the parts are similar. However, the small parts are clearly labeled with each in their own packet. I left the parts in their individual packets until needed and then put the parts not immediately required in a labeled muffin pan. The assembly instructions are clear and staying organized and not rushing or going out of sequence, made for a smooth and fun assembly. Everything fit – everything lined up well. No parts left over.

The grill works very well. The best grill I have owned. I have a grill surface thermometer ($4- Walmart) that I find useful - The grill surface temperature on high reaches over 450 F – great for searing steaks. My other grills never reached that level.

Tried making chili on the side burner but the 8 cups of water was slow to boil. I removed the side burner grate and without the grate and with the pan sitting directly above the flame the boiling point came quickly. But thinking about that, I am not certain this was safe as the side burner has no heat shield. In hindsight, I will not do that again. The side burner works well with the installed grate for melting butter and sauces. Also the 8 cups of water once it reached the boiling point, I reinstalled the grate and the burner was adequate for simmering chili for about an hour. But the grill was purchased for grilling, not for the side burner, and for that it is a great deal -

One small confusion, is the wire thing on a chain. That is a match holder, I guess to hold a match if the igniter did not work. For me, the igniter works well on the first push. If it did not work, I would use a gas firelighter.
