Loved it,
This review is from: Character Sketches (Paperback)
So I bought this book because of Shaun Tan, and I loved his story in this. It was short but quintessential Shaun Tan. And the other artists and writers in the book were not to be sneezed at either. This is the first time I've come across Justin Randall (wishlisting his other work now), and Anton McKay's style had me nostalgically reaching for my old Tintin books. Hope to see more from both these artists soon!

A bit disappointed; sorry.,

I bought this for the Shaun Tan piece. In general, the book is quite pretty, but none of the stories grabbed me at all. But if you don't know Shaun Tan's books, you should definitely buy The Arrival, The Red Tree, and The Rabbits immediately.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I was buying this book as it said Character Sketches by Shaun Tan. But actually there is only one or probably two pictures drawn by him - and the others are by the somebody else, whose style I didn't like.

This book is horrible. I'm a fan of Shaun Tan and based on the images that they show you on the amazon page I thought it would be a wise purchase, it was not. The vast majority of the book is horrible drawn comic book style pages. Not horrible like a rough sketch, horrible like a high school art student type horrible.
What a waste of money!!!! |
