3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 star 2nd solo album -- his best solo effort
A year and a hlf since his debut, Silkk returns with his sophomore effort, and unlike most 2nd albums, it is his best one. A year and a hlf since his debut, Silkk returns with his sophomore effort, and unlike most 2nd albums, it is his best one. Like all No Limit releases around that time, guests are all over the album, but this is better as Silkk probably couldn't carry the whole album himself, and only 6 don't have guests and most of these aren't too good. Packed with 18 songs, it has 1 - 3 almost classics songs, 6 I skip, 6 ok ones, and the rest are good. Production is great on some songs and so so on others and is handled all by the Beats by the Pound Crew. Craig B & Mo B Dick each do 5 songs, O'Dell does 4, and KLC & Carlos Stephens each do 2. A good album to have for his fans or fans of late 90's No Limit music.

#1 - 9 (f/ Master P, C-Murder, Mac, Fiend, Mystikal, Skull Duggrey, Big Ed {R.I.P.}, Mia X, Gotti Gambino)
#2 - 5.5
#3 - 8.5 (f/ Snoop Dogg -- nice beat)
#4 - 9 (f/ Master P, Destiny's Child, O'Dell, Mo B Dick -- nice upbeat track)

#7 - 7
#8 - 7.5 (f/ Master P, Eightball, C-Murder)
#9 - 7 (f/ Mia X & Big ed (R.I.P.))
#10 - 4.5 (f/ Master P, Mo B Dick, Peaches, O'Dell --- slower song)
#11 - 8 (f/ Mo B Dick -- good beat)
#12 - 8 (about who can u trust)
#13 - 7.5 (f/ Mystikal)
#14 - 9.5 (f/ Kane & Abel, and Mo B Dick -- great beat)

Positives: This is the album that got me into No Limit once upon a time. Not too sure if that's a positive thing either. However, this is a good album. It has the some of the characteristics of the typical NL CD but it was before things got to assembly line status. Of course, there are bad songs on this record. The number of good ones will surprise you if you actually listen to it though. "If I Don't Gotta" is one of those songs I love to listen to when I'm feeling depressed. "Mama Always Told Me" has an Eightball feature tucked in the end that is really cool. Other songs like "Who Can I Trust" & "Me And You" are good songs too.

Negative: Of course, being a NL release has its downsides. The bad choruses, the features that may not work too well with the rest of the album. Not all the songs are good, you have to pick and choose. Silkk also has a kind of choppy style that occasionally leaves the beat. Some might see this as his trademark while others might see it as a trademark of a bad rapper. Either way, it's something different. I'd like to see Silkk leave No Limit but chances are slim. Made Man after this one is a lot worse. Hardly any good tracks. If you want decent No Limit, look to the past and not the future.

1.0 out of 5 stars Silkk da Shocker can't RAPP!!, January 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Charge It 2 Da Game (Audio CD)
I'm sorry but Silkk da Shocker can't rapp at all. All he do is scream. I really don't mean to player hate, but he can't rapp. The only songs I like by him were "IT AIN"T MY FAULT" and "LET ME HIT IT". That's only because Mystikal was in it;which Mystikal help bring Silkk's voice. I'm sorry, but he can't rapp and that's the bottom line. Also I don't see why girls go crazy over him. He's not all that, but Mystikal is sorry. Also let me get supmtin' strait I'm not a music fan of Silkk da Shocker, but I'm a fan of Mystikal.

3.0 out of 5 stars a solid but flawed effort from Silkk, November 27, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Charge It 2 Da Game (Audio CD)
Let me begin by saying that I don't think Silkk ever had any real skills. He was better than Master P(who is'nt?) but he was not quite on the same level as Mystikal or C-Murder. Charge it 2 da game is a solid effort by Silkk, but he does not cross any new ground. He lacks creativity and the album becomes repetitive. But with Master P, Mystikal, Snoop, C-Murder, Mac, Fiend, and Kane and Abel appearing on the album, you have many soldiers to distract you. Notable tracks include "Just be straight with me", "It aint my fault", and "Mama always told me".

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my 2nd all time fave rap cd!!!!, February 1, 2002
This review is from: Charge It 2 Da Game (Audio CD)
This is, in my opinion, one of the greatest rap albums. His voice is so real, and his words are true. He's not real boastful like some other rappers, and what he says carries weight. One of his best songs is on his second album "Made Man" called "End of the Road". It shows he's got heart, and he's not afraid to let us know it. This is a truly awesome album that every rap fan should own.
