Esthetically pleasing - but not functional.,

Esthetically this is a really nice-looking caddy with a walnut finish. Be sure to look at the actual size because it will be a little bigger than you likely expect - but perfect for a kitchen counter or large desk. The drawers are a little small, but functional. The main problem with this caddy is that it is advertised as being able to charge 4 separate communication items. Although technically the concomitant surge protector (power bar) has 6 outlets, due to its configuration and the fact that many devices today now have an oversized plug to handle multiple voltages, you can not plug in more than three items no matter how you slice it. We had to buy a separate power bar that purposely spaced out its outlets for just this reason. That was an additional 30% out of pocket. Please take this into consideration before you buy this product. You can easily conduct a test before buying this product by taking a standard 6-plug power bar and seeing if you can plug all of your items into the bar.

I had ordered from another company at double the price and got upset when it didn't come after 2 weeks waiting. I guess that it was a blessing. I then saw this one at a reasonable price and looks practically identical. It was in stock and came in just a few days. My night stand now looks neat (first time in years). It is a little big for my nightstand, but I believe that they make a smaller one too. The wood finish is nige. Everything is crafted as professional furniture. Anyone who has at least 3 devices that need daily charging, this is the one. I haven't seen anything else with 4 bays in cherry wood less than $100.00.

Mine just arrived in the mail. Overall, I'm fairly happy with it, but I definitely do have some minor nits to report.1) TINY DRAWERS: The 3 little drawers are teeny tiny, and because they lack guides, they're very loose and tend to rattle and scrape when used ... and they fall out easily. Also, there's no felt liner in the bottoms of the drawers, so whatever's in there sliges and rattles around too. I'll probably add some felt strips to serve as guides, and some stick-on felt in the bottoms of the drawers, to see if that makes them more serviceable ... but it irritates me to have to waste time redesigning the work of others like that. 2) POWER STRIP: The direction of the 6 female plug recepticles in the powerstrip are aligned longitudinally, rather than transverse. The reason that's a problem is that many phone chargers have oblong plugs which, on a longitudinally oriented strip, cause each plug to take up 2 1/2 plugs worth of space. The result was that I was only able to plug 2 phone chargers into a strip with 6 outlets ! D'oh. If the recipticles were transverse, It could fit 6. Very dumb. As a result, I had to do what another reader reported, and buy a splitter, to prevent my 2 chargers from hogging the entire available stip. 3) HATCH: The top hatch opens from the top down towards the front, rather than from the bottom up towards the back. A minor issue, yes, but I mean come on - dont the people who designed this unit realize that most devices plug in to their charger from the BOTTOM ?! Because the opening for the cords is at the top, you either have to pull out enough extra cord to reach the bottoms of whatever you're charging, or you have to put whatever you're charging in the caddy upside down. I note, with some amusement, that the photo of this caddy carefully shows everything upright, but not plugged in ... which is deceptive. Personally, I just leave everything upside down. 4) VERTICAL SLOTS: The vertical openings along the back of the unit are slender almost to the point of uselessness. The result is that there's very little that fits in them ... certainly not your phone case, or a wallet, or even a checkbook. I'd have made the openings at least a half-inch bigger, in both directions, or simply omitted them altogether. Bottom line: Despite its flaws, it still appears to be one of the better charging caddies out there. It's serviceable, and attractive. Three out of five stars from me.
