5.0 out of 5 stars Chargriller Tabletop Grill
I bought one of these for a standalone grilling use. I was extremely impressed. Assembling The grill DID require me to
CAREFULLY read the instructions as it came with parts for standalone operation as well as for a firebox
application. Hence, parts will be left over depending on the application it is set up for. But, what really impressed me was the grates...

3.0 out of 5 stars as a grill yes, as smoker NO
If you are going to attach this to your grill and use it as a smoker you are in for a mess. The process to removed the vents are no where near as easy as the instructions claim. You will run the risk of ruining the whole box. Best bet is to find a grill with the smoker already attached and save yourself the headache.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chargriller Tabletop Grill, January 28, 2011

I bought one of these for a standalone grilling use. I was extremely impressed. Assembling The grill DID require me to

CAREFULLY read the instructions as it came with parts for standalone operation as well as for a firebox

application. Hence, parts will be left over depending on the application it is set up for. But, what really impressed me was the grates. They were

made of heavy duty cast iron like I find at public parks. This meant they hold heat and do a great job of

searing meat. The box is constructed of heavier gauge metal than a lot of grills. Making the

grill last does require some PM. I cover ny grill when I leave it outdoors. (I simply use a garden

trash bag), Instructions call for oiling the outside of the grill with olive oil, Doing this

semiannually DOES make a difference in the appearance. Since the wooden handle is not varnished, and even if it was, the

varnish would weather in time, covering with the bag keeps the wooden handle from cracking and splitting.

Great grill!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Handy Grill, August 14, 2011

Purchase this item because it had cast iron grills. Very important that you season them before using the grill. I like the sliding tray to add additional charcoal or wood chips, very convenient.

Cooked thick porterhouse steaks on it, got a nice crust on the outside & medium-rare in the middle. Also smoke a 5lbs pork butt, Hawaiian Style with tea leaf, got pulled pork with a nice smokey favor. Haven't tried to cook fish yet, Miso-Butterfish (black cod) should taste real good on this.

OVER ALL THIS IS A GOOD PRODUCT. HOWEVER, THE FIRST ONE THAT ARRIVED WAS SO OUT OF ROUND WE COULD NOT COMPLETE THE ASSEMBLY AND SENT IT BACK. AMAZON WAS AMAZING ON THE THE RETURN AND WITHIN DAYS WE HAD A REPLACEMENT. WE WERE ABLE TO ASSEMBLE IT AND MY HUSBAND IS SATISFIED WITH THE PRODUCT. I, BEING A LITTLE... OKAY, A LOT OCD, AM STILL NOT HAPPY WITH THE WAY THE SLIDING DRAWER FITS INTO THE BARREL. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF PLACES WHERE THE AIR CAN GET IN. I DON'T SEE WHY A METAL DISC CANNOT BE FORMED TO COVER THE THE SIDE OPENING COMPLETELY. I'M TOLD BY MY CHEF IT'S OKAY SINCE THE FIRE NEEDS A DRART ANYWAY. JUST SAYIN'.

The drawer will tilt when opened.Bummer.I know ,send it back. What a freaking hassle.I wish the china dude loses his job.A job that should be done

here in the good old USA.What a smack.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad customer service, November 2, 2010
This review is from: Chargriller 2-2424 Table Top Charcoal Grill and Side Fire Box (Lawn & Patio)
My husband and I purchased this company's Outlaw BBQ pit, along with their table top/side fire box (which is supposedly convertible). We wanted to use it as a side fire box, but we received no instructions or manuals on how to do this. You have to go online to their website to find the correct owner manual on how to install the side fire box correctly. But by that time, my husband had already diagnosed the problem and assembled the thing. The problem was that the spacer tubes that were provided were literally twice as long as they should have been (someone in engineering messed up).

After trying to call their customer service (which is closed on the weekends BTW), my husband went to our hardware store to find the proper parts. With the assistance of our hardware guy, they came up with something that worked perfectly.

We, then, emailed customer service with pictures to report the spacer tubes error. The only response that we received was that they would send us new spacer tubes. By this time of course, we had already solved the problem and had absolutely no need for new spacer tubes, as we already purchased our own properly sized spacers.

Actually, customer service told us that we "did not follow proper protocol according to the manual" (which BTW, was not properly provided). They refused to do anything for us! We are highly disappointed with their customer service.
