Chariots of Fire is a great record to put on if you're feeling pissed off. Or, hell, if you just want to listen to some great angry rock.

I hate trying to categorize some music into a genre because that sort of thing is just so subjective and debatable. Apollo Up! sounds to me as though they have punk/hardcore rock roots, but the musicianship is more evolved and complex than most bands that come to mind in that genre. The sound is aggressive, angry, very minor-key for the most part. Don't expect any happy songs from this record, but do expect songs that'll get you pumped up. The power trio arrangement is very no-frills, but the production is excellent and they sound powerful.

If you like stripped down rock, listen to the samples, buy the CD. Apollo Up! will be your new secret weapon, that rockin' band that your friends have never heard of.

I first saw these guys in Indianapolis three or so years ago. I've had the CD ever since, and have held onto this album as a blueprint of a great rock album. Straight ahead, pedal to the floor rock, guitar solos, beefy bass lines and heavy uptempo drums. Vocals have a raw Elvis Costello feel and sit perfectly over the mix.

This is the second copy of this CD; I bought it as a gift for another fan of good rock. Remember; good rock is usually not on the major labels. Buy small label rock music now!
