More About the Author

DeAnna Kinney is the author of the successful Charity Series, a Young-Adult Paranormal series with a twist. She is also the author of New Adult and Adult Romance, Action Adventure, and Children's books. She is a wife of twenty years and the mother of three amazing kids. She considers herself as fun-loving and a bit peculiar. Besides writing, she loves reading, all things purple, Star Wars, acting like a goofball with all of her friends, and dancing while she cooks (she can see her kids rolling their eyes as we speak). She believes whole-heartedly that chocolates and a good book go hand in hand. And, having experienced it herself, believes utterly in the power of true love.

Her upcoming works include:

*Tender Crossing (Cross Series Book 2)
*The Drake Triplets' Story (no title yet)
*And maybe something about Zombies, Bullying, and perhaps the end of the world, although not necessarily in that order.

Taken from my Blog Le' BookSquirrel

This is a cute paranormal read with Werewolves and Vampires.Charity is 18 year old senior in high school and her chip on her shoulder involves her fathers death and her Step Father who is a evil man.Levi transfers from the school across town and imagine if you will when Edward Cullen walks into the cafeteria and you have the total girl population's reaction to Levi.Except Charity. You go girl.Make him work for it.Charity eventually learns that the world is not how she knows it,She accepts it surprisingly well.I enjoyed Charity and Levi's relationship.

Moving on,this book was very well written.Once I picked it up I was unable to put it down. There were times when I wanted to kick a certain vampires butt.I am hoping there will be a sequel to this as once it was over it was not quite over.If you want to purchase this book you can CHARITY MOON here. It is currently free as of April 29th 2012 VIA Amazon.

I would classify this book as Paranormal/YA/Christian... Perhaps a first. At least a first that I've read. The paranormal/YA elements are immediately evident with the teenage girl falling for the handsome other-worldly boy, the christian theme kinda sneaks up on you. At first with a few references to Charity's belief in God and later it becomes a more predominant part of the story with Charity being healed by a miracle from God because Levi prayed for her rather than using his own magical powers to heal her. It was unexpected to see these two elements intertwined; paranormal and christian. I've never read anything like it before. It is a unique blend of themes.
The story is reminiscent of Twilight at first, however I think any story with the premise of "teenage girl falls for handsome mythical-creature boy" will cause readers to compare and contrast the two books as they read. I was very happy to see that this story branched out into it's own territory and was not in fact a retelling of Twilight, but a story all its own.
My biggest problem with the plot was the way Charity handled the situation with the perverted step-father. I didn't agree with her logic that it was best not to tell her mother, however that was the only thing about Charity that I didn't like. Her sarcasm and wit made the character ring true to me as a typical teenage girl. I loved the knick names Charity would come up with for Levi. "Puppy" was my favorite.
I did find myself thinking of the characters when I was not reading the book, and to me that is the sign of a good book. When the characters follow you through the day. When you wonder what will happen next and look forward to re-visiting their world, then I think the author has done their job.
Overall I enjoyed reading this book.

I don't usually read paranormal stories of any kind, however, I had heard of this author and decided to take a peek at the first few pages. Immediately, I was captivated by her writing. I loved it. It was quirky and fun, so I bought the book and read it just to enjoy her writing style.

The first third of the book was fantastic and I couldn't turn the pages quick enough. Charity was falling for the new school hunk, Levi. Her trying to resist him was very engaging and I loved they way she thought and her attempts to make him jealous. Then it turned to the paranormal elements. For readers of this genre, that would be great. For me, the pecking order of the pack etc. went a bit too detailed. Again, I would think this would be fascinating for readers who like that kind of storyline, but I was more interested in the Charity/Levi romance aspect than the order of merit for alpha werewolves. But, the author did offer great insight into life in the tribes. So well done for that.

But what kept me going the most was the writing itself. I loved the line "I don't give a rip-roaring rapids." That was gold and her wit was evident throughout the writing. I also have to compliment her ability to tell a story without the use of profanity. A true talent in this day and age.

The story itself was good if you're into the kind of plot. But the author's superior writing skills are what sold me. I would actually give the story 4 stars and the writing 5 stars. So for an average of 4.5, I'll move it to a well warranted 5 stars.

Charity is a average high school girl who one day meets the mysterious new guy from a rival school. This boy not only gets her attention but sets her hormones on fire. Levi is everything Charity is not looking for but for some reason feels an instant pull towards him. When Charity is given a dare to kiss Levi, the sparks fly and Charity can no longer ignore her feelings for him. Charity soon finds that she can no longer go on without Levi in her life but she will have to make great sacrifices to be with him. Ones that might break her heart. For one this story has the cute high school girls meets wild high school boy and they fall in love. Charity is that girl that we all want to be in high school, safe and secure in her own identity and doesn't care what her peers think. I completely enjoyed this book up until the end. It just seemed rushed to me. Everything in the story flows great, the character developments and relationships. Charity begins to change towards the end. She starts crying a lot because of her new feelings for Levi and becomes more insecure. So many different things happen right at the end that it seems rushed. I would continue to read the next book but I hope the conflicts are spaced out more through the book.
