5.0 out of 5 stars Classics Start At Home
"Classic" is a word that is thrown around by hip hop fans pretty often these days in refference to their favorite artists. That being said, I personaly chose to refrain from using the word unless I deem it absolutely appropriate to do so. With the long awaited debute from Phonte, Charity Starts At Home, I do believe that the world has been given a genuine, unblemished...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a classic, but a solid delivery.
I want to love this album. I really have a lot of love for Little Brother, Justus League, etc. 9th Wonder is, in my opinion, one of the greatest beat crafters of our time. However, all of that will not make this a classic. Phonte went in on his own, and what he put together was an average album...

I'm saying that beat wise, it's somewhat boring, sounding the...

I have really liked this content as I have listened to this music over time. This piece of music really grows on me as I listen to it over time. 9th brings the best out of him. However the rest of the LP is really good.

When I first heard Little Brother's "The Listening" I thought to myself, "WOW this is what hip hop is all about". With each new album, I wondered how could these dudes not be spun on the radio hourly like most of the bull crap we hear. This is quality music.
On this solo Phonte RIPS IT!!!!! every track is real world reality rap for the everyday person. None of that unobtainable fake flawed braggadocious rap about money, yah, and ass. So to you Phonte, I apologize for the world for not recognizing on the worldly scale you deserve.

This album is HOTNESS!!!

Quote (From Everything is Falling Down):
...
Eastside Bing-ham St. Repper,
Tae rock the spot like I'm half Leopard.
Then pray for you lames like I'm half lepar.
And if it don't fill the coffer
motha-f the offer
A-Chew on you n*gga's like I'm black pepper,
With wine and some father beans, I'm half Lector
King *ish Kane *ish no half stepper...

This is not even scratching the surface!

If your a real Hip Hop Head, this is a must have. You'll love it Trust me.

Great album and just a genius at work. Before you get up in arms, Phonte knows what works for his voice and were he is going with his concepts. The artwork is ready to frame and the production is above par for the course. Best buy of the year.

Lyrics, lyrics, lyrics. Phonte, Elzhi, pharoahe monch!!! What more could you want? The beats are well crafted and will keep your head nodding from beginning to end. The only complaint i have about the album is I don't really care for the tracks where Phonte sings. Singing is just not his strong point in my opinion. Stick to spitting bars dude! Other than that this album is a banger from start to finish.

Where do I begin.... This is the hottest album I have bought since Nas & Marley... If you don't own that you have been asleep at the wheel. Anyway, Phonte has an instant classic here. Yes, the album is just that good. He is a double threat. This cat can rap and sing - and no this isn't Drake.

This is real hip hop...Tigalo, Tigalo, Tigalo! Be Strong Tigalo! Be Real Strong!

I had read a lot about this album before I actually purchased it and I must say that it exceeded all my expectations. The combination of clever and relevant rap with his R&B tracks made for an excellent album that I have given dozens of spins since it came in the mail.
