4.0 out of 5 stars Too bad it's in English
If you don't have any Charles Aznavour albums, try one in his native French first. This album is almost entirely in English and he is somewhat laboring to put the proper feeling into a language with which he's not entirely comfortable.

3.0 out of 5 stars SOMETIMES LESS IS MORE...
This CD could have used some serious editing, to avoid having a great talent sound like a third rate lounge act. Some of the material is seriously dated and mediocre. Not even Charles Aznavour could save a track such as "You Let Yourself Go". Still, there are some absolute gems on this CD, sung as only Mr. Aznavour can. Tracks such as "Yesterday When I Was...

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy listening Charles, May 28, 2000

Charles Aznavour, just like Edith Piaf,a piece in time,UNFORGETTABLE,ROMANTIC and FOREVER. I love French music, and Charles Aznavour is truly a clasic out of the old Paris, yet keeps his audience SPELLBOUND with his soothing voice. This english collection album is a must have for anyone, who wants to plan a romantic getaway with a loved one.

France, Paris, vine, music, Aznavour... It should sum it up. Charles Aznavour was always a part of the French culture but he is known throughout the world and that makes him a part of every culture. I give very solid five stars.

Aznavours Greatest Golden Hits, this is great it
makes you laugh and cry. These for the most part,
are stories, so listen to the words on this one,
and best of all, most of these are in English.
I also have "You And me" this is another great
album. Next I think I'll get "Aznavour Live"
For an entertainer nearly 80 he is amazing.

I saw Mr. Aznavour perform recently during his farewell tour. This CD will give me fond memories of the songs he sang in English. He is a wonderful performer in any language. This CD will give those who do not speak French access to the beautiful songs he has written and his unforgettable voice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Get the French recordings, March 9, 2002

I have to agree with those who'd suggest getting the original French recordings of these and other Aznavour pieces. On a few tracks, like "Old-Fashioned Way," of course, he's tremendous and the recording just drips with style, but on other tracks he sounds forced, drawn-out, as if someone is clipping his toenails while he's being recorded, or as if he's wearing a shirt collar that's too small. I hadn't been familiar with Aznavour's work, but have since dabbled with the French-language material he's done over the years and found them to be much more representative of this giant French star. Get this one for completeness, but get the French material to really hear what this legend can do.

I haven't heard Aznavour sing for a long time and now I know why I always liked him.
Some of his songs are catchy and some are lovely. A really enjoyable recording of
his older songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great English CD, July 11, 2008

Although I love the French CDs of Charles Aznavour, these English hits are outstanding as well. Some of the best songs on this CD are "I'll Be There", "I Didn't See the Time Go By," "How Sad Venice Can Be", and Ave Maria. I am amazed at how great he sings in French, English, Spanish and Russian.

Highly recommended!!
