Editorial Reviews

Review

"Based as it is on a generous deployment of de Gaulle's own words, the book gives the flavor as well as the substance of the man's mind and his basic assumptions."

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic overview of an important man, August 23, 2008
By NOYDB "NOYDB" (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
A very brief, "just the facts" overview of Charles De Gaulle's life. In actuality, it is a little over 100 pages, with the rest of the book consisting of some basic documents that the author used. Most readers will simply want to skip over this latter section. If you want a basic description of the life of one of the 20th century's most important European leaders, it is recommended. If you want a fuller treatment complete with analysis, look elsewhere.
