5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! Easy to Follow & Highly Effective. This is it!

2.0 out of 5 stars this book is worth about half its price
this book offers an overall view of a low carb diet. one would be better off purchasing a lower priced book written by a physician which offers answers to more specific questions. it also included recipes for alligator, bear, elk, etc. come on now, how many of us really eat that?

I've had the good fortune to read the pre-release copy of Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: "Eat Fat and Get Fit!" and try the program for three months. Unlike most diet and fitness books, it's a great read and Charles personal story is amazing.

The program itself is the most user friendly I've ever seen, as well as increadably effective. It's simple to follow without any deprivation at all. I was so relieved to finally understand what foods our body actually evolved to eat, and because of that, that I could eat foods like steak, bacon and eggs without fear. In fact, eating those foods (and more), I lost 35 lbs. in 2 1/2 months, without counting or measuring anything and look better than I did in college! At 57, that's amazing.

I was also pleased that it included over 200 tasty recipes keeping the diet interesting for me-- it was also like getting two books for the price of one. Don't miss this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Diet Evolution is one of the best!, March 8, 2000
This review is from: Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: Eat Fat and Get Fit! (Paperback)
This is really a great book. Mr.Hunt explains it in such a simple manner, there is totally no room for error. Forget the charts, how much, how little, and the correct times to eat. Just eat only what you are susppose to eat, and leave the rest alone. The recipes are great and easy to prepare, and I have not gotten bored eating them. I started this WOE a month ago, and went from 220lbs. to 194lbs., and I am STIL LOSING! It's the easiest eating plan I have been on in my life. A week after I stopped eating sugar, my arthritis is gone. The pain in the heels of my feet are gone. My enery level cant be measured its so high. When I get up in the morning I am bright eyed and bushy tailed. My moods are better and I no longer feel depressed. What more can I say except....BUY THE BOOK,APPLY THE BOOK. You will be glad that you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear, Concise, Practical & Inspiring!, February 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: Eat Fat and Get Fit! (Paperback)
If only all diet and fitness books distilled their message in such an easy to read, user friendly edition. Mr. Hunt makes an excellent case for reviewing our blind allegience to the food pyramid, by turning not to the confusion perpetuated by constantly changing studies, but to over 2-million years of human development. He also breaks new ground by simpilifying it all into a complete program of diet, fitness and supplementation that anyone can follow.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Simple, Friendly Approach to Low Carb Dieting, August 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: Eat Fat and Get Fit! (Paperback)
Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution is admirable in that it takes a simple, friendly approach to a topic which has often inspired great flights of technical jargon. Instead of complicating the matter unnecessarily, Hunt cuts to the chase, and tells you *how* to do a low carb diet -- which is, after all, what most folks want to know about the subject.

Does low carb work? You bet. I've lost close to fifty pounds on a diet quite similar to what Hunt recommends. Better yet, it's staying off. Go for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cutting-edge book that questions reigning diet dogma, July 25, 1999

This review is from: Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: Eat Fat and Get Fit! (Paperback)
This book will teach you more in one short reading about what a truly natural human diet looks like than anything in the thousands of gimmicky, dogma-ridden books about low-fat high-carbohydrate diets ever will.

A simple, workable program that I know for a fact has worked very well for other people I know. This is definitely worth checking out, and is probably just the tip of the iceberg. Other books which examine the REAL genetic history of human beings and how we really evolved to eat and live will undoubtedly come along soon. Charles has the right message at the right time. If you've experienced years of frustration with low-fat, low-calorie diets, buy this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars The wave of the future based on the way of the past., June 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: Eat Fat and Get Fit! (Paperback)
This book is engaging, entertaining, easy and fun to read. What most authors take 500 plus pages to explain, Hunt eloquently elucidates in 196 action packed pages. His personal story is shocking and moving and his book is right on the mark. People need to know that most of the modern foods they are eating are not fit for human consumption. Hunt simplifies the selection of foods and shows readers how to eat the way Mother Nature intended. His program is simple, straightforward and doesn't require any dietary or culinary gymnastics, elaborate calorie counting, cumbersome calculations, long-form journaling, bird-sized rations, or itsy-bitsy portions of no-one-can-eat-just-one, I-wish-I hadn't-started addictive food stuff. A DE style diet is so delicious, satisfying, and can be incredibly varied if you use your creative faculties. My husband and I have been eating a diet similar to the one Charles Hunt recommends for almost two and a half years. Prior to that, we followed vegan, vegetarian and macrobiotic diets for the better part of 12 years and ended up with a long list of side effects. A Paleo diet, similar to the one outlined by hunt helped us to improve our health in numerous ways. This would have been a great book to have when we were making the switch. It can help anyone with a desire for superior health and fitness. You'll laugh, you might cry, you'll want to tell all of your friends about this book, and you and they will love the recipes. You must try the Infallible Rare Roast Beef, Beef Jerky, Caesar Salad Dressing, Cuban Lime Marinade, etc. This book is well worth the price! You'll have the pages dog-eared in record time! Get this book and get with the program! You won't be sorry! It'll improve your energy, mental focus, moods, digestion, sleep, state of mind, and your marriage (if you are married!). Honestly! It works. It's definitely not a fad. (Can something two million years old be considered a fad? You tell me!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Overall, a very good book, May 25, 1999
By
Dan John (Murray, Utah) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: Eat Fat and Get Fit! (Paperback)
I have been following something similiar to "Diet Evolution" for the past year. I wish I had this book when I began because of all the stops, starts and misinformation about "Paleodiet" programs. Hunt's section on exercise is a real help, other books that emphasize "Hunter-gatherer" eating rarely discuss this key aspect of fitness. Hunt's personal insights are also very good, especially the bad information he had to overcome following his heart attack. I do wish he would have spent more time explaining "play days," although, upon reflection, perhaps someone who needs to define and structure "play" has to spend less time with work. I enjoy his simple to follow "menu" of applying the program, basically, one, two, three. He makes it seem very easy to get going on this "Way of Life." From my experience, it is, but I had to learn a lot of this the hard way. I wish he would have expanded the exercise section for advanced training or athletes, although, as I stated, no other book includes any information on this area at all. I highly recommend this book and also wish to give a nod to Hunt for his good sense of humor throughout the text. The book also provides a handy chapter that undercuts the current religion of high carbohydrate living that is turning America into a land of obesity. Certainly, this book is worth the money and the time to read. Moreover, it is worth following the simple advice found inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book; fun to read; enlightening; on the money, June 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: Eat Fat and Get Fit! (Paperback)
I am a paleo-diet cooking instructor, probably one of the first in the nation; I'm also a freelance nutrition journalist and healthy cooking coach. I urge my cooking students to get Hunt's book so that they can learn more about how to improve their physical, mental and emotional health and avoid the problems Charles Hunt went through. I've used some of the recipes from Hunt's book in some recent classes, to whet people's appetites. So far, so good! Many of them have his book. I hope more get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A natural way of life, June 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: Eat Fat and Get Fit! (Paperback)
For years I've been running to the gym ,running on the treadmill, running around the supermarket reading label after label rejecting almost everything because it didn't fit a high carb, low fat diet. Finally I can relax and not think about it anymore, and allow myself to enjoy a great variety of food. I'm even enjoying exercise more because I feel more in control. It's easier to stay in in control because I'm no longer depriving my self or eating the same things over and over.

Something that was quite unexpected was that I became less bloated and started digesting food better. I didn't even know I was bloated or that my digestive system was out of wack!

This is something that has giving me piece of mind because it's just a natural way of eating. You just go " Ohhhh, that's what I was supposed to be doing. Why didn't someone tell me this before?"
