This clock fits my need perfectly.

The tick sound is quieter than some clocks, but I can still hear it in a quiet room.
Douglas Howey
It is on the large side and the numbers are large and easy to read from a distance.

I love this clock--and it was a fitting replacement for my last model. The last clock I had, by the way, could tell the humidity and temperature--but within my bedroom, those values didn't really matter--and I believe all the extra gears necessary for those meters just reduced the lifespan of that machine. This clock is exactly what you want--a solid, reliable, and relatively quiet, time keeping device. It's not radio controlled, and it's for the better. I've had the clock for about two months now and only had to set it once. Hasn't lost a minute. I will say that the large CLI logo is a bit garish, and the red second hand kinda reminds me of being in gradeschool, but it's all good. Additionally, in terms of volume, I have the clock directly above me in my small dorm room. When I want to hear the clock, I can hear it, but when my mind is even partially on anything else, I really don't notice it at all. When I am concentrating on it, it sounds no louder than the sound I make when I'm typing on a modern laptop.

Nice simple institutional clock. Priced right, works great and is easy to adjust if need be. A good buy for someone who needs a clock in a shop, break room, classroom or place of work. I have no idea who Charles Leonard is, but he makes a great clock:-)

We needed a new wall clock where the numbers could be easily seen across the room. This one is perfect!
My husband often remarks now how easy it is to see what time it is! Having a second hand too is a definite plus.

We got this clock to replace an atomic clock that was difficult to read from a distance. We use it in our extended kitchen, up high over the sink, so we can tell the time at a glance from anywhere in this large area. It works great! I've noticed that, while standing very near it, I can hear its audible ticking sound. This is not a nuisance at all, since the sound is not loud, and very soon it's not noticeable at all. We are very pleased with this very serviceable addition to our home.

I have this clock in the office on the wall above and in front of my desk. Anybody walking past the office in the hall can see it. It reminds me of classroom clocks. This one protrudes a bit more from the wall but you have to see it sideways to notice that.

I can hear it tick when I'm very close to it, otherwise not. I like everything about the face of it including the small red second hand.

The reason this clock fits the institutional setting such as an office, school or other work environment well is that it has a relatively thin black plastic border. If it had a wide or wooden border, it would be appropriate for a family living room or family kitchen.

This clock takes one AA battery and it's not included. It's lightweight, allowing it to hang on sheet rock using only a thin nail.

Now that I've been using it for a few weeks, it's apparent to me that it helps me to pace myself on tasks. I think it's one of the greatest things one can put on a wall in the office in addition to a fairly large laminated calendar. When I'm on the phone, I have both of these items to look at and it makes me feel better organized.

Charles Leonard Inc. Wall Clock

Pros:

- black second and hour hand, red second hand are highly visible. If you have good vision, you'll be able to read this clock from well over 100' away.

- tested mine for accuracy for 1 week against an atomic clock, and it neither gained nor lost [even] one second.

- while earlier versions of this clock had a domed plastic cover, this one is flat, which reduces glare

Cons:

- if you're looking for an elegant clock, this isn't it. This one looks belongs in the work-place, rec-room, or garage - not (for example) a dining room.

Other:

- 14" diameter; 7/8" thick, has standoffs on the back that keep it about 1" from the wall.

- extremely light weight. The UPS box felt like it was empty.

- it doesn't look expensive, and since it isn't, that shouldn't be a surprise

Summary:

If you're OK with its utilitarian look, and the rather large diameter (14"), this is a good choice.

Good product- easy to read, keeps accuurate time, fits in with a lot of different decors. There is a ticking sound, but you get used to it- could be a lot worse.

I was looking for a large, easy to read, classic office clock for our fire station training room and was drawn to the clean lines, good reviews and reasonable cost. I was a bit put off by the comments about the loud movement, but gave it a go anyways...how loud could it be? Well, if I hold it up to my ear, I can hear it tick. I suppose if I didn't have an aquarium, the wind wasn't blowing and the kids were asleep I could hear it at home too. In my opinion, you would have to have a very quite environment for the sound of the clock to bother you. Oh, by the way, it is functional and looks even better on the wall. Very glad I purchased this clock.
