5.0 out of 5 stars Must read!, June 30, 2009
Great American classic. Sometime hard to find. Probably one of the best books written if not the best in the 20th century on training labs. Some information has changed due to training research, but his insights and suggestion are priceless. Some find points to argue with. One of the very first great American trainers of Labs.

This review is from: Charles Morgan on Retrievers (Hardcover)
This is a classic training manual written by one of the very best early field trial handlers of all time, a must for every modern retriever trainer to have in his/her library. I must admit to bias, as I personally knew Chuck Morgan who was my brother, Jake Baird's mentor and employer in the early 60's. When we made visits to Chuck Morgan's kennel at Random Lake, WI we were met always with the warmest hospitality and the best of times. Chuck was a giant of a man in the retriever world and also on a personal level. He was a wonderful man, beloved by all who knew him. My brother, Jake Baird was hired by Chuck in the early 60's. Jake got his start with retrievers and in field trail success with Chuck and is mentioned in this book several times. Jake went on to have great success as a professional field trial handler in his own right after leaving Chuck Morgan's kennel and the rest, they say, is history. This book is a gem, not to be overlooked by the serious retriever handler or historian.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Great Trainer, September 30, 2008
This review is from: Charles Morgan on Retrievers (Hardcover)
This is one of the best books I've ever read, as far as Lab training books go. Good for any breed, not just labs. Very detailed and at the same time, he adds in a little fun with Chuck's stories. A good read, even if you don't have a dog to train. Great tips and lots of great pictures from back in the day.
