Season 2 definitely is better than Season 1 for Charles in Charge. We now have the Powell family and they brought a whole new perspective to the show. I love the new family, they fit in better with Charles. It has better laughs and Buddy as always is fun to watch as well. I am glad to see the new season come out and can't wait for the rest. Go buy this one if you loved this show. Its good fun to watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Charles Defintley in Charge!!, October 11, 2007
I highly reccomend getting the 2nd season of late 80's- early 90's comedy Charles in Charge. The second season of this widley funny but quite silly show finds Charles (no last name) the Coplend College student taking care of a new family's children. The Powell's consist of the intellectual middle child syndrome Sarah, the bimbow- airhead- still sweet Jaime, and their baby brother Adam whose only joy in life is to torture his siters. Join Charles while he embarks on his everyday adventures of teaching the kids right from worng, going to college, and chasing girls with his best friend, the not too bright but heartwarming Buddy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic '80s comedy!, March 27, 2009
If you can forget the awkward transition between Seasons 1 and 2 -- the Pembroke family's suddenly moving away, and basically leaving Charles behind as live-in childcare for whoever else moves into their house -- this show is full of fun.

Scott Baio stars as Charles, a college student helping cover expenses by boarding with the Powells, a local family with three adolescent children. Between classes and wisecracks from ever-present friend Buddy (Willie Aames), Charles is always on hand to lend an ear or give a little advice to Jamie, Sarah or Adam Powell.

Particularly memorable episodes include "Buddy Comes to Dinner," where an unfortunate little accident causes Buddy to recuperate (annoyingly) at the Powells'; and "The Naked Truth," where Charles makes the discovery that a girl he's attending an art lecture for is involved in a way he never dreamed.

If you want some guaranteed laughs, make sure to give Charles a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars New Family - New Fun!, March 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Scott Baio must have had a great fun doing this show. You can see it in his performances in each episode. (Eventually he ends up writing and directing episodes too in later seasons!)

For whatever reson, the studio, the network or the cast themselves - the Pembroke's are written out of the show. As a result, the home is then taken over by the Powell's. and - as luck would have it - no one told Charles - especially that he came with the house as part of the deal!

The first episode is a cross-over confusion - and then as the season progesses the show picks up charm, humanity and a lot of heart. And the introduction - and eventual regular cast appearance/member of Ellen Travolta (John's sister) as Scott's mother is hysterically real and heartfelt!

I like the chemistry and the warmth of the Powell's and I can tell Scott and his best friend Buddy played by the delightfully dim-witted Willie Aimes must have had a great time doing this show.

It's perfect for the family and kids and has a lot of moral and ehtical situations that are not IN YOUR FACE, but real to the story and characters. The best part - it has a lot of humor that 80's sit-com humor!

A great family show and it even got better as Season two moves on and as the series continued! 3-27-08

4.0 out of 5 stars Episodes from Season 3 on this set???, December 4, 2007
I am glad that they released season 2 on dvd so quickly but I wasn't all that impressed with the set up. This set gave no preview as to what the episodes are about and there was no closed-captioning which helps those of us who have hearing trouble. My question is this....aren't some of the episodes on this set from season 3. The one's when Gwendolyn comes to town already engaged to another man are listed on various websites as being a part of season 3, can anyone answer this for me. I look forward to the rest of the series coming out on dvd soon.

I love watching TV shows but especially when I can watch them over and over at my own leisure. I loved this show before but now it's even better since it's mine. I am really happy with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Deal, January 8, 2011

Product was what was expected. Price was very reasonable considering the product was brand new and has worked wonderfully well. My family and I have laughed much through watching this show. Recommend it for anyone who grew up in the 80's or anyone with children that would like to have a wholesome show for them to watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charles IS in Charge, July 24, 2009
It was about time they brought on the next succession of the series. The Powell family was certainly more enjoyable to watch than the original family in the series.Scott Baio was always great in the lead role...even when he was stuck with the original family who wasn't very funny or memorable. But it was Willie Ames who always stole the show. The "Buddy" character started out as the token dummy but Ames brought such depth and personality to Buddy that made him the loveable lunk head. The dynamic between he and "Mr. Powell" was always a joy to watch. Great series. A classic in its own right.
