5.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD Release
I didn't exactly know what to expect from this set since it was made-to-order and not a pre-manufactured box set. I was surprised at the quality of the set. The box & disk art is great and the quality of the video and audio of the shows themselves are great. The video quality is even better than some pre-manufactured DVD sets that I own. 3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not what the previous seasons were...
Season 4 of "Charles" finds the title character almost finished with college, yet still maintaining his live-in nanny position with the now teenage Powell children. His mother Lillian, who moved to town and purchased a pizzeria in the previous season, abruptly and with no clear reason decides to switch to a `50s diner instead. Meanwhile, Charles' loyal friend Buddy is...

The only bad things I can say about the release is there are absolutely no special features and there are no subtitles or even closed captioning for the episodes.

I'm glad they are still releasing this series on DVD and I hope season 5 comes soon. I wish other companies would release some of their series this way. Especially stalled series like Mary Tyler Moore, and The Bob Newhart Show.

This way they only have to make sets that have already been ordered so they won't have a bunch of DVD sets made that don't sell.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings, March 30, 2009
By
First let me say that I am very pleased to see the fourth season of Charles In Charge make it to DVD. It wasn't ground breaking television but was always fun to watch and it still is. The episodes themselves look and sound great.

My issue is more with the packaging, labels & on screen menus. To me the labels give sort of a red tint to everyone's skin color. Giving the appearance that they spent too much time in the tanning bed. This is true of the box art as well as the labels on the discs. This along with the art used on the on screen menus gave the discs a homemade feeling.

Also, it should be noted that this is a 6 disc set not a 3 disc set as with prior seasons. The first two discs have 5 episodes while the remaining 4 disc have 4 episodes each. This was not really an issue to me just something I thought was noteworthy.

All in all if I had it to do over I would still buy this set. I am more concerned with the episodes themselves than the packaging and the episodes are great. And as I already stated it was good to see the next to last season on DVD in any capacity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for S5, March 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I received CIC S4 a few days ago and I already watched all the episodes. The DVDs arrive in two cases containing three discs each; the first two discs contain five episodes each and the other four discs contain four episodes each. Each disc's artwork is a different color. Each case has artwork like the picture shown here. The first case's artwork is blue and the second cases artwork is red. The back of the cases has a short write up about the show and a box listing the name of the episodes that are on the discs. The picture quality is the same as the previous DVD releases so no worries about that. I'm glad that they decided to use more discs instead of cramming a lot of episodes on one disc because that would affect the picture quality. If your on the fence about buying Season 4 I would say do it because other than buying and downloading the episodes from here this is the only way you can get this terrific television show.

4.0 out of 5 stars Charles In-Charge The Complete Fouth Season, February 14, 2010
This is a typical 80s TV favorite. Kids today are enjoying the shows as much as our generation did in the 80s, so it's certainly worth having. The product, purchased from Amazon, was delivered on time and worked perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brings Back Memories, January 30, 2010

I loved this show when I was younger and watching the series back on DVD now brings back found memories. What I loved about this show was it covered all kinds of issues, wasn't too cheesy and had a great cast. If you love sitcom tv, the 80s, stars in show, etc. then this season of Charles In Charge is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not what the previous seasons were..., January 4, 2010
Meanwhile, Charles' loyal friend Buddy is still by his side as the two scheme their way through various school, girl and life issues.

While overall the show is reassuringly similar to the previous three seasons, it's here that the formula really stops working. For one thing, the two Powell daughters are well into high school and their younger brother Adam is close behind, making it stretch believability as to the household's need for Charles by this point. For another, the character of Buddy - once goofy, yet still reliable and smart enough when push came to shove - has become so dumb as to be a charicature of himself. Then, the character of Mrs. Powell disappears for numerous episodes at a time - perhaps due to some kind of the actress' real-life issues at the time - but her absence is largely ignored. Perhaps trying to combat that, The Powers That Be added Anthony, a long-lost orphan cousin of Charles' who is now living with Lillian. As there's already an adolescent boy - Adam - this newcomer seems a bit superfluous and is completely Cousin Oliver Syndrome in practice.

Nonetheless, if you're a "Charles in Charge" fan, you may still enjoy this season, if for no other reason than nostalgia. Episodes of note include "No Nukes is Good Nukes," where viewers finally get to see the long-elusive Commander Powell; "Duelling Presleys," where the gang tries to book an Elvis impersonator for the diner, which of course results in hijinks; and "Adam See, Adam Do," where the youngest Powell goes on a date with a classmate - played by an adolescent Kellie Martin.

Scott Baio at his Best , this series takes Chachi from Happy Days into a great series that was shown on cable ,But He makes a great life as a nanny for a family in need,in exchange for room and board. Dwayne Hickman (Dobie Gillis) works behind the camera producing the series. Willie Aames (Eight is Enough) is Scott's sidekick and stirs up a little trouble for his friend

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, May 24, 2009
I'm a big fan of Charles in Charge, and I am glad to see that season 4 was finally released on DVD. The only problem I have with this release is that the episodes (at least on the first disc of season 4) are out of order. Other than that little problem, it is great. Bring on season 5 soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites!, April 11, 2009
Charles in Charge - Season 4 just keeps getting better. Scott Baio was born to play Charles, I never did care for him on Happy Days - not sure why. It's weird to see Nicole Eggert before all that Baywatch hype. Charles in Charge was a show I watched nonstop as a child, I couldn't get enough of all the fun chaos. I highly recommend this guilty pleasure!
