5.0 out of 5 stars A great compilation of original recordings, September 7, 2006

This review is from: Charleston of the Twenties (Audio CD)
This CD has 25 tracks containing some of the most significant recordings made while the Charleston was popular (1923-1929). These songs were danced to by the "flappers" during what is known as the "Roaring Twenties." The most recognizable track is probably "Yes Sir, That's My Baby." The tonal quality of some of the selections is "squeaky" in the sense that these are original phonograph recordings (mostly intrumental) from the era and not modern renditions. I like the toe-tapping rhythms. A history of the Charleston and a history of some of the selections is giving in the flyleaf.
