Bought this for my father who is in his 80s and native WV'n. He no longer lives in WV, but we lived in the upper Kanawha Valley. Charleston was THE destination every weekend for whatever we needed. Those were the days when a car's glove box was really used for mom's gloves -- always wore them. When Dad opened the book, it brought tears to his eyes. Need I say more . . . .

Very nostalgic, very informative - great photos. Learned a lot about the city my father's family came from. A-1 condition.

The book does have some interesting pictures/postcards and the write-ups are well done. But I was hoping there'd be more pictures showing everyday life in and around the city throughout the years. I guess these are scenes that wouldn't be found on postcards though so I can't blame the author.

I read your review on Amazon prior to ordering the book, it was a gift for my Mother, she lived there at one time. She said it was very nice to be able to look up the places she remembers and whats happening to the buildings now...
