Wildlife artist Charley Harper's whimsical paintings portraying all kinds of creatures have delighted art and animal lovers for more than six decades. 'Minimal realism' was how Harper defined his style. Harper came by his love of nature as a child in rural West Virginia and developed an unmistakable style of capturing an animal s essence with geometric shapes and vivid colors while studying at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the Art Students League of New York.

It's a great 'small' calendar that is set up with grid spaces for the days which is great, but I now wish I had gotten the larger 2011 calendar. I think the images aren't done any justice being so small. Also the ladybug on the front is the only calendar page (June) that has a pop of colour - the rest are very muted greys, blues, and browns; however this might be typical of the style of Charley Harper. Bought it for a child's room, yet I personally think it is more ideal for an office area. Overall, the artwork is beautiful and would look at buying other items displaying his artwork.

The pictures are excellent and the calendar is a perfect size to have with you in a briefcase or notebook. Very useful and attractive.
