5.0 out of 5 stars Lloyd If You'll Start Us Off
That is how he stated it in his live albumn years ago now. And Lloyd Greene on his pedal steel guitar layed down some of the finest steel work ever when you listen to, "I Know One." Joe Talbert also worked with Charley and the heavy steel influence was so evident, and so good. Listen, Charley Pride was no fluke. I have a flyer that was tacked to a light pole...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great, but...
Being a big fan of Charley Pride, I truly enjoyed this CD. But, It seems that most (if not all) of the recordings are not the original releases. It's definitely Charley Pride, they are definitely classic songs, he sounds great, but it is disappointing to be "duped" this way. Not even on the CD cover does it mention that these are "re-recordings"...

Joe Talbert also worked with Charley and the heavy steel influence was so evident, and so good. Listen, Charley Pride was no fluke. I have a flyer that was tacked to a light pole in Texas, when he first appeared at the "Cowtown Ballroom" in Ft. Worth. You all should hear the live albumn to appreciate the fact many people did not know that Charley was not the typical country music performer. But a hush fell on that crowd, and when he sang, "Just Between You and Me." They were all made believers. So will you.

1.0 out of 5 stars All Remakes, August 12, 2005

Later in his career Charley Pride did a massive recording session where he re-recorded all his biggest hits.

At the time it was well intentioned because almost all of the original versions of these songs were unavailable.

But be forewarned, the songs on this disc are all remakes, well done, but nonetheless, remakes.

I really enjoyed Charlie's rendition of "Mountain of Love". It's almost as good as Johnny Rivers. Charlie's smooth voice is great to listen to after a hard day at the office. I recommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charley Pride: One of the Greatest C and W Singers, July 24, 2006
This review is from: Charley Pride - 24 Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I loved this CD, but then perhaps I am somewhat predjudiced as I have always loved everything he has sung. This CD has all the old well known songs as well as some I had not heard before. Although C and W music originated in Nashville and other places in the USA, it does have tremedous international appeal and I am sure will be loved by C and W music diehards and perhaps even among some hip-hop and rap loving youngsters of today.

I bought this to send to my sister as a memory of our late mother who loved Charlie Pride. This CD had all of the songs we can remember her singing to in the car.
