5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - my favorite diaper May 7, 2011
Size Name:Small
I've been cloth diapering my boy since he was a newborn and we have a supply of Bum Genius (older versions and the new 4.0), Fuzzibuns One-Size, and Charlie Banana One-size. They all work well but I really like the construction of the Charlie Banana diaper. Charlie Bananas, as people have said, are basically just like Fuzzibuns except they have an interior flap that lets you use either the cloth insert or a disposable insert (which is nice when you're out - no need to take home heavy, soggy inserts after a change). The interior of CB's is softer than the others, and the gathering at the legs (which is key for preventing leaks) just feels more sturdy. I have a couple well-used Bum Genius diapers and one of the problems is that the leg gathering starts to stretch and loosen, leaving gaps that cause leaks. The Charlie Bananas (and Fuzzibuns) let you adjust the legs to keep the leg openings snug, thus preventing leaks.

All that said, kids are shaped differently and what works for my chunky baby may not work for your stringbean. If I were a new mom just starting to cloth diaper, I'd buy one or two of each of the good ones (Bum Genius, Fuzzibuns, and Charlie Banana -- I'm not a fan of Happy Heinys) before committing to investing in just one type of diaper.

3.0 out of 5 stars The one size gives a better fit June 29, 2011
By Claire
Size Name:Medium|Amazon Verified Purchase
I recently switched from only using prefolds and covers to using pocket diapers. Now I understand that some people don't understand why anyone would use pocket diapers that they would have to wash the cover every time and it is less economical, but I was forced to when my son turned 8 months. He got a case of the wigglies and it has never gone away. Diaper changes became a battle of trying to get him to lay still long enough to carefully fold the prefold and then add the cover. With pocket diapers I can now put the diaper on him standing up if need be and no need to worry about two pieces instead of just one, (also the babysitter can now change him without having to resort to disposables, some people just can't get the concept of folding prefolds correctly). That said I purchased the Charlie Banana Mediums and a set of the one size. The one size is so much better. The fit is easier to adjust and I don't have any leaking problems that I do with the mediums. Actually only a few of the mediums leak but when they do it is in a big way. The legs on the mediums just don't seem to be tight enough and I have tried adjusting it a few ways to make the fit better but it ends up making the waist too tight instead. So if the choice is between the two spend the extra $10-$20 and get the one size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Fuzzy Bunz only better... November 15, 2010
Size Name:Large|Amazon Verified Purchase
Just got my set of these and I love them! I'm a Fuzzy Bunz (FB) fan but saw these and wanted to give them a try. They are very much like FB Pocket diapers except better constructed (my opinion). They have same snap system only extra snaps for overlapping. Also pocket is stuffed in the front instead of back and there is a flap over the top unlike FB which have an open end which seems to me unfinished. The fabric on these also seems a little thicker and higher quality. Sizing and fit seems to be pretty much the same as FB.

I jumped on a six-pack of these, size large, at a price of about $13 per diaper, realizing my 15-month-old is outgrowing his four Fuzzi Bunz one-size and two Fuzzi Bunz mediums. The price is the first draw; they also come with two thick, fluffy inserts each (Fuzzi Bunz comes with only one) and they have a little more flexibility with snaps/sizing, including the possibility of snapping the diaper closed on itself when it's dirty (handy for travel).
I also have Bum Genius one-size (snap and hook-and-loop) and Fuzzi Bunz (one size and perfect size) in my collection, and these Charlie Bananas are my favorite. NOTE TO NEW PARENTS: hook and loop is easy for the parent, especially in the middle of the night, but toddlers can undo hook-and-loop, and chaos quickly ensues. This is why I am ordering a second six-pack of Charlie Bananas and retiring some of my hook-and-loop Bum Genius.
On one reviewer's complaint that the microfiber seems to wick wetness out, causing leaks: this is true of both Charlie Banana and Fuzzi Bunz unless you check carefully each time for any wayward edges and push them safely inside the polyurethane cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better for Baby, You and the Environment!!! March 1, 2011
Size Name:Small|Amazon Verified Purchase
I must say that all of the reviews that I have read about this product are true!!! They feel so soft and are very adjustable. Give it a try... especially if you are breastfeeding. I say that because of the 20 bm's that baby has while breastfeeding! it will save money and your childs bum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love these diapers! February 2, 2011
By twinmom
Size Name:Medium|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've tried a lot of other pocket diapers for my boy/girl twins (FuzziBunz, BumGenius, TweedleBugs, Blueberry, Sunbaby, Wahmies) and I like Charlie Banana the best. They are really great quality diapers and are actually cheaper than a lot of the other brands as well. My favorite feature is that the pocket opening is in the front and has a flap to fold over- all other brands seem to open at the back, which means that messes end up under the lining and all over the inserts- yuck!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for 1st-time cloth user with this advice July 31, 2011
By K. Kent
Size Name:Small|Amazon Verified Purchase
I finally have these diapers figured out! This is my second baby and my first time using cloth diapers. So please keep my lack of experience in mind. I started using cloth right away at the newborn stage, so immediately I had trouble finding a size that worked. I found I could make CB small work, but there were still huge gaps at the legs that I couldn't get rid of without disrupting the umbilical cord (I was folding down the top of the diaper). But CB X-small fits my newborn boy perfectly, and they are so super cute (ordered from [...])! However, what you may have already come across in reviews, etc was a major problem - leaking out the legs and back! Every diaper change demanded a onsie change, because the fleece portion of the diaper contacted the clothing and wicked out the urine. After reading multiple reviews and complaints to this effect, I tried putting one large insert into the pocket underneath one newborn insert and Voila! No leaking and baby can go 12 hours at night!!! I'm very excited to have a functioning cloth diaper system, because I was beginning to wonder if it would beat me and I would give up. So, in summary, CB is great for first-time users of cloth diapers, because the pocket system is so simple, but you should be aware that leaking may be an issue without multiple inserts even in the day time. Also, a note for first timers: I use disposable Real Nappies Bioliners which make poopy diapers much easier to deal with, and the toilet bidet attachment for washing off solids.
Update - at 9 months (April/2012) - changing review to a 3. Micro-fleece will be the death of me. I live in an area with hard water, so perhaps this is part of the problem, but all of my micro-fleece diapers have become completely unusuable.
