I actually own a special high definition format CD of this same album.
It's a Monster Cable special to highlight HD audio.

While the audio on the HD was good, the quality between the different formats did not seem to change at all. Very difficult to hear any variation and in truth not that much better than a regular CD version.

I bought this to compare and the result is pretty typical of most SACD format albums I have. IT sound tremendously better under a SACD format.
It's just seems smoother and more complete. Sounds don't get cutoff at the tail end of a note and seem to have that natural fade it should have.

Highly recommended for anybody with a SACD capable player.

...On the format that it was meant for. I'm hoping that the more I see on SACD, the more likely it stays around. This one certainly comes alive on SACD. Especially with all the piano. It seems that piano gets washed out on CD, but it reverberates in all it's glory with this one. It sounds like the band is right in my living room.

Not only is Vince Guaraldi a musical genius, but SACD is the only audio format that gets close to the audio purity in the old analog recordings. The CD format of this turned me on to Vince Guaraldi many years ago, and I became a huge fan of his, so when SACD versions of his music started coming out, I had to buy them.

Charlie Brown has a special place to many of us, and the music almost made the show for me, so I can relive the feelings that the show evoked by listening to the music year after year, and I listen to it regardless of the season. It's the only "Christmas" music that I listen to outside of the winter months, and I treat my sound system to it regularly.

This is easily one of my favorite SACD's, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has fond memories of the music of Charlie Brown and has the appropriate equipment to enjoy SACD.

As a warning, I do not recommend buying the SACD version of this disc unless you are sure that your system can take advantage of SACD's. In my opinion, if you don't have at least a small fanaticism for audio quality and/or music, then SACD's won't sound any better to you, even if you have many thousands of dollars sunk into your stereo and a very nice SACD player, (normal CD and DVD and even Blu-Ray players do not support SACD unless they explicitly say that they do, and those formerly named players will just play the normal CD audio tracks that are on the SACD disc, so you get none of SACD's audio benefit.)

For most people, MP3 and iTunes audio formats are good enough, but for anyone who is trying to get every ounce of enjoyment out of SACD's before they are no longer supported, this SACD is a classic and an absolute treasure to my collection, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Also finishing off the Vince Guaraldi Trio is Fred Marshall, Monty Budwig on bass, although the SACD lacks in sound compared to others the bass is tight and deep coming out of your speakers. Jerrhy Granelli, Colin Bailey on drums and the Mastering of George Horn.
Audiophiles will notice an improvement from this hybrid sacd over a regular cd others may not. Being a hybrid this will play on all cds players as well as super audio players, where sacds alone will not. The stereo sound is adequate and quite good with deep tight bass however I'd also love to hear this perhaps in a 5.1 Dvd audio.
This is a great add to any collection and a good introduction of jazz to children. Whether played soothingly low while a child is making a Christmas list with that Red Ryder BB gun or perhaps mom and dad put it on Christmas morning as the kids open presents. Maybe at the end of a long and busy day in traffic Christmas shopping you come home and put on this cd, fire up the fireplace, and just kick back and enjoy.

Vince Gauraldi was a jazz piano genius plain and simple. We all grew up with his music on the Peanuts specials and this is one of the classic compositions we all remember and enjoy. If you have a Super Audio setup at home or not, relax and listen to this collection of Christmas treats...you will be glad you did.

I am a huge Vince Guaraldi fan. His compositional genious is what really makes many of the Peanuts specials. A Peanuts Christmas is his first and, in my opinion, all-time best Peanuts soundtrack. For those who love Jazz and Christmas music as much as I do, there is no way you can go wrong. This particular CD has a few added bonuses that have not appeared on albums in the past.

For other Guaraldi fans, be sure to look for the new offering compiled by his son David - Vince Guaraldi & The Lost Cues. Included are many wonderful nuggets from various Peanuts specials that have not appeared on any other album. Check it out on [...].

The Charlie Brown Christmas Cd was a gift for my husband, he loves this cd. We have it in cassette tape form.

Love, the album. But the SACD transfer does little to enhance the already superb audio recording on the regular CD.
