Charlie Daniels has some amazing songs on this album.

As I get older I find it more and more difficult to find record albums that I like well enough to buy, but this is one.

Overall I enjoy this CD and highly recommend it to any country music lovers like myself.

CHARLIE DANIELS-SUPER HITS: Charlie Daniels is the musical bridge that connects straight ahead country music to southern fried rock more seamlessly than anyone else. From his first tall tale chart-scaler UNEASY RIDER through his affectionate name checkin' tribute THE SOUTH'S GONNA DO IT to patriotic anthems STILL IN SAIGON and IN AMERICA, the guitar and fiddle wielding North Carolina native is a funky fave of practically everybody, no matter their particular musical taste. This skimpy ten track collection also lets rip with barstool belter DRINKIN' MY BABY GOODBYE, line dance request BOOGIE WOOGIE FIDDLE COUNTRY BLUES, and his best known boot-kicker THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA. UNEASY RIDER '88 unreels as an unnecessary homage to past glories, while older classics WITCHITA JAIL and THE LEGEND OF WOOLEY SWAMP, both fine story songs in their own right, go unheard here. In spite of these glaring omissions, SUPER HITS still qualifies as a purty good ol' collection from a purty good ol' boy.

RATING: FOUR BOWSTRINGS

This is a great collection of songs by one of country music's legends. Charlie Daniels has proven himself time and again to be an exceptional songwriter and performer. Even when he stepped outside the box he has kept his status as one of country's greatest performers. The song list reads like a stroll down memory lane for number one hits or songs that have touched your soul. Even if you don't remember the song title you will remember the lyrics.
The only fault I could find with this CD was that it was too short. At 10 songs (which are all very good) you can not begin to touch Charlie Daniels' greatest hits. And it was a basic re-hash of an album (Charlie Daniels Greatest Hits) that I had purchased a few years before. But these facts nothwithstanding, if you don't have the Greatest Hits album you will want to get the Super Hits CD.
Fine performances by a legend - buy it - enjoy it.

At such an affordable price, it would be hard to provide a complete collection of any artist of Charlie Daniels' caliber. But, here's a sampling of original recordings of one of the greatest fiddler's/songwriters/guitarists ever to grace the stage. There were quite a few omissions when this collection came together, and possibly, some numbers that were included, could've been replaced with those that weren't! But, there's not a stinker among this compilation. I'll be the first to admit that there are much better collections out there, but for this price, you will never find a better "basic" introduction to Charlie Daniels' music....but how could they omit "Legend of Wooly Swamp"? B+

Charlie Daniels has some amazing songs on this album. The lyrics are actually original and the songs will live on forever. Daniels is an excellent fiddle player. He has so much talent! I really like Devil Went Down To Georgia, and that is probably his biggest hit ever. I also really love Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye and Simple Man. The only song (Yes only) on this CD I don't really like is Still in Saigon, but that's probably just my personal taste. This is an amazing album. It is so energetic and full of life! I'd definately pick this one up.

This is one of my favorite albums I own, and I own a lot of albums. I could never get tired of this album, NEVER! It's so energetic and just everything that country music is lacking today. Charlie Daniels is by far the best fiddle player that I have ever heard, the lyrics are grerat but the music is AMAZING! The songs that stand out the most are "Simple Man","In America","Drinkin My Baby Goodbye",and a very emotional song,"Still In Saigon". And yes, it has the immortal "Devil Went Down To Georgia" If you love TRUE country music like me, and like it when you can blast it and just let go, this album is for you! Do yourself a favor and go get it!

As I get older I find it more and more difficult to find record albums that I like well enough to buy, but this is one. First of all, in my opinion "Uneasy Rider" is one of the funniest tunes I ever heard. This one is an old favorite of mine from my college days, and whenever I hear it it takes me back to the Summer of '73. In fact I thought it was THE funniest tune around until I heard Uneasy Rider '88. Absolutely hilarious, and not to be missed.

I liked most of the other tunes on this album very much, and now that I've listened to the album several times, I like them all. That's rare.
