5.0 out of 5 stars The Yogi Berra segment-, December 9, 2007
The Yogi Berra segments open and closes with some of Yogi's most quotable quotes. " It ain't over, till its over" " When you come to the fork in the road, take it." " It's deja- vu again" ( After Maris and Mantle hit back to back homers) When hearing Dublin mayor Briscoe is Jewish ," Only in America."
After discussing the book of quotations Berra is on to promote Rose asks him some good baseball questions. Berra defends his old buddy Mickey Mantle and says his drinking came after the game. He tells about the five years he played with Dimaggio who was in his eyes the greatest of them all, the one who did everything right and made it all look easy. He says he considers Ted Williams the greatest hitter of all, and also tells about trying to distract Williams by talking to him, and having Williams who loved to concentrate on hitting say to Yogi 'Shut up'. He speaks about the perfect game of Don Larsen, and about the two playoff games in 1949 against the Red Sox which gave the Yankees the pennant. Yogi is a lovable character, a baseball legend whose sayings have a lot of uncommon sense and wisdom in them.
Rose as usual conducts the interview with skill and brings the best out of his guest.
