Steger is a pioneering explorer of the world's extremely cold regions. In this conversation he brings with him Julia Hanson another member of his most recent expedition. This involved crossing the Arctic ice on sleighs pulled by dogpacks. Steger talks about his lead dog who he has brought to the studio with him. Steger speaks about his own love of these areas, their rare beauty, the challenge and difficulty in expeditions of the kind he makes. When Charlie Rose asks him to compare Arctic and Antarctic he says he prefers the former as the forty to fifty degrees minus cold of the Antartic is almost impossible to contend with. This is another case where Charlie Rose brings to his show an interesting achiever of the kind I would ordinarily know nothing about. At times it seems as if Rose's goal is to inform on every different aspect of Culture there is.
