Another Great Set of Episodes,
By George Buttner "Agent0042" (Dayton, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Charlie and Lola, Vol. 2 (DVD)
"Charlie and Lola" is a delightful series based on books by Lauren Child. It is seen on Playhouse Disney in the United States and on CBeebies in Great Britain.
In this series, Charlie has a little sister named Lola who is small and very funny. Charlie often helps Lola with her problems and though they have some sibling rivalry at times, they are usually pretty nice with each other. Lola often has an unusual way of seeing things, or can be a bit stubborn, but Charlie helps her to look at things in a new way or to try new things. This DVD features six stories from the first season of the show. That's on less than Vol. 1, but it's still a great release. The stories are "I Am Not Sleepy and Will Not Go to Bed" (based on a book), "But That is My Book" (also based on a book), "Boo! Made You Jump!," "I Want to Play Music Too," "The Most Wonderfullest Picnic in the Whole Wide World" and "You Won't Like This Present as Much as I Do!" The animation is unique and fun to look at. The main theme and background music are all very catchy. The British-accented dialogue and phrases also add a lot to the series. "Charlie and Lola" airs full-screen on Playhouse Disney, but it is presented in widescreen on the DVD. Close-captioning is not offered --- there are subtitles instead. The DVD also includes a few bonuses / surprises --- watch for them to pop up while both on the main and episode-selection menus.

My children are small and very funny,
By Sophie & Ian's mom (Florida USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Charlie and Lola, Vol. 2 (DVD)
We are Disney Channel people so it is always refreshing when they add a new series to their line up. We were instantly drawn to Charlie & Lola. My children are 1/2 and 1/2 (British & American that is) and we love to see a bit of Daddy's culture & accent on the show. The animation is creative and the lessons are appropriate for 2-5 year olds. Often we will ask our daughter (3) what would Lola do? Our son is only 17 months but he still watches with our daughter. We log onto their website to play their games and print out pages to color. It's a great little show and we love it.

Kids sit transfixed in front of the screen,
This review is from: Charlie and Lola, Vol. 2 (DVD)
My two and a half year old sits mesmerised at Charlie & Lola, he asks for it continuously and has even started to speak with an english accent which I am sure wont last! One thing worth mentioning is that even with it on in the background, for some unusual reason, none of it begins to be annoying to adults and it can be left on in a loop safely without fear of danger to parent's sanity.
He took it into his day-care and displayed it proudly to the other kids of similar ages (My 11 year old sits equally transfixed at this DVD and at the younger one's attention span!) and the staff there reported similar interest with all the kids there.
