Most Helpful Customer Reviews

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Shalom Freedman HALL OF FAME on February 18, 2008
V.S Naipaul comes to the Charlie Rose studio shortly after having received the Nobel Prize for Literature. Naipaul speaks about his life in writing, how he is a slow writer, how he does his good work for three hours each day, how he reads it over or now has the work read aloud to him in correction. Naipaul also talks about the 'half- life' he refers to in his new book, the sense of many people that their lives are not full and complete. He also speaks about a culture in which individual sexual adventure plays a part (The West?) and the more traditional Culture he came from. He too speaks about 7/11 and his sense of what the Terrorists wish to do.
Naipaul appears sated and tired. He does not have hunger or humor. He has intelligence and understanding. Rose is as usual a gracious and intelligent interlocutor.
