The segment on life on other worlds, February 5, 2008
This review is from: Charlie Rose with Michael Lemonick, Wesley T. Huntress & David Helfand; David Owen; Alice Walker (January 29, 1996) (DVD)
The discovery for the first time of three planets raises the hope of those who discuss the matter here, that life will be found on other worlds. They are in fact largely sure of this, and at the end of the program calculating the vast numbers of stars within our Milky Way calculate that there is almost certainly Intelligent Life in our universe.
Of course they have no real proof of this.
They too fail to mention the fact that in four decades of radio- signals being sent to space without answer - makes the situation more complicated.
What the discovery of the planets shows is that life is much more likely to happen.
Rose follows all this and seems to know it- but there is a sense that his enthusiasm is not so much in this kind of adventure and exploration.
