The 'New Yorker' magazine has just put out an issue celebrating New York City. Charlie Rose brings to his show the New Yorker's editor David Remnick , two of its writers Elizabeth Kolbert, and Hilton Als. He also brings Liz Smith a veteran New York journalist, gossip column writer. They speak some of the well- known cliches about New York, the capitol of finance, media, and much else. They speak about the special meaning of New York for those who have come to it from outside. They have praises for Rudy Guiliani's transformation of the city into a far less crime- filled and liveable place. Charlie Rose also brings photos of the special issue made by Richard Avedon.
Despite the focus on truisms I found the discussion informative and interesting.
