4.0 out of 5 stars The Remnick on Netanyahu segment, March 4, 2008
David Remnick come talk with Charlie Rose about the new Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He starts off saying that he spent some time with Netanyahu's father the historian Ben- Zion Netanyahu and learned much from him. He describes the father as a loner and outsider, a hard-right- wing Revisionist whose influence on his son is not small. Remnick then goes on to outline what he considers to be the pressures Netanyahu is under from his own constituency and from the political reality he has been handed. The question is how will Netanyahu react to the continuation of the Oslo process which he rejected. Remnick does not speak very warmly about Netanyahu and says that many of Netanyahu's associates are suspicious of him. He may a bit unfair to Netanyahu but generally Remnick does understand the difficult situation Netanyahu and Israel are in.
Not a bad interview and not wrong- headed, but would have appreciated him going into mroe detail about the intransigence Israel faces from the other side.
