Fred Krupp of the Environmental Defense Fund comes to speak with Charlie Rose about the state of the Environment, and the measures which might be taken to reduce Global- Warming. Krupp is a professional, a pioneer and long- time advocate of finding ways of improving the Environment. The work he and his group did were of great consequence in contending with the acid- rain phenomenom. Krupp says the fact of the Global Warming is not really contested anymore. The question is how to deal with it wisely. He talks about putting 'caps' on Industries, strictly and legally limiting the amount of carbon they are permitted to put in the air. He talks about the special responsibility the U.S. has as greatest long- term polluter. He expresses his eagerness for a New President either McCain or Obama, both of whom he believes would be better than President Bush. He knows his stuff very well and has an informative discussion with Charlie Rose. He admits that introducing certain strict environmental measures might reduce employment to a certain degree. But he believes the measures can only be of long- term good to the Economy. He has a sense of urgency about the subject and when Charlie Rose asks for a time- frame in which something importantly new must be done, he indicates this is pretty much 'right now'.
The interview as educational and informative but as most conversations on this subject a bit dull.
